I'd prefer to see Babel given a run there but really he's no winger. Benayoun is probably best as an impact sub for us, at the moment (and it's not his preferred position anyway) - which leaves us with one other option.

Yep, I think Rafa showed too much faith in him by not getting someone really top notch for RM this summer. Unless he was constrained by budget of course. That said, I do rate Benayoun, he's a better player than Pennant in my book. Don't fancy Gerrard back on the right tbh. We need his drive in the middle, when he finally gets going again that is.

I think we should try this as soon as Xabi gets back, even if it's not the long term solution it may give Stevie the kick in the arse he needs at the moment as he looks like he is playing in the comfort zone. Maybe he needs reminding that his place is not guarenteed and if it's for the greater good he may need shifting over from time to time ......... if nothing else he'll bust a gut first time he's back at CM to prove that's where he should stay

Possibly a bit harsh on the skipper but he is definetely not himself and has said he isn't suffering from his injury - he has been decidedly average at best for several games now though

I've always been a "gerrard must play in the middle" person. But he has to earn the right to play there too.

He hid on Sunday in my view. Some of Masher's passing was woeful at times but was constantly involved. Gerrard was too rarely demanding the ball or even in a position where he could receive it.

For me SG is a central midfielder, but it'd be hard for him to complain about being shifted out the way at the moment.
