    Literature about Liverpool

I am considering buying a few books about Liverpool and peoples accounts on several events like Istanbul etc but does anyone know any good books on the High Street?

Also watching John Barnes's Show, the author, can't remember the lads name, recited 'One Night in May' which is a poem written by him. With that in mind, does anyone know any good Liverpool poems and if you do, post them!

A season on the brink is a good read. A lot of the Bentiez books are enjoyable as well and some of the picture books like one night in the city are well worth a buy. Full of photo's from the final and leading up to it in 2005.

My dad went on a book buying binge when we won it in 2005

im thinking about getting this one:

          from play.com £12.99----------------

Here We Go Gathering Cups In May

"Here We Go Gathering Cups In May" is the story of Liverpool F.C's ongoing love affair with the European Cup, told through the eyes and voices and the fans themselves. 7 Finals. 7 Fans. 7 amazing adventures, in which the ingenuity (and pockets) of the fans have been challenged as they set their sights on getting to that final by hook or by crook.Above all this collection of essays tells of the bond between a club and its fans; the lengths those fans will go to, in order to be there at the endgame to cheer on their team; what happened along the way; their escapades in some of Europe's iconic capitals; and their recollections of those historic nights - nights of glory and, sometimes, nights of tragedy.

Wasn't there some lad posting on here that had something to do with it?
            Thinking of getting it myself.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

The stand out chapter is Dave Kirby's account of the 77 final in Rome...very funny

It's a good read mate especially if you have been to some of them
The chapter on Rome by Dave Kirby had me pissing myself, especially the train journey tales

All seven writers give quality accounts of the finals

'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
                    It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
                    Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'
