Pako must have one big garden! He is on leave till June 2008

    http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drill...71013-1501.htm

Pako Ayestaran is to step down from his position as assistant manager at Liverpool FC, although he will be contracted to the club through to June 30, 2008.
Chief executive Rick Parry commented: "Following discussions between Rafael Benitez and Pako Ayestaran, it has been agreed that it would be in the best interests of all parties if Pako leaves his post as assistant manager. Pako, however, will remain under contract to us until next summer.

"The club want to thank Pako for his hard work and contribution to our success over the past three years."
Shame such a good partnership has been broken up. Just as things were clicking into place. But its better broken than bust ups upsetting team morale all through the season as Pako and Rafa had it out.

Stops the Mancs and Chelski getting their hands on him though.

maybe they might iron out their differences between now and then, although i very much doubt it, at least he won't be able to use his info against us this season (if at all)

Maybe he's working for the Corpy Parks and Gardens. By work I mean that loosely. Since they used to do **** all in the 80's and 90's.

Wasn't it over Pako sharing a joke with Mourinho after they robbed us 2 points at Anfield?

Letting Pako go could be Rafa's biggest mistake yet, IMO.
Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Think it started off with Pako applying for the Director of Football position at Atletico Madrid (or possibly Bilbao?), without Rafa's knowledge. Had an interview but didn't get it.

Also Rafa, apparently, decided on a change of pre-season training regime - more ball work, less physical stuff - and Pako felt marginalised as this was his specialist area.

That's how I understand it, anyway.

                Supposedly any/all of these:

Rafa's appointments to his backroom staff
Rafa's decisions of which players should play
Rafa's choice of signings in the summer
Rafa changing the pre-season training plan
Pako being firendly with Mourinho (particularly after the 1-1 draw earlier this season)
