i find all this 'lets sign heinze to make fergie angry' stuff really smalltime, we're much bigger and better than that, id rather make him angry by finishing above them which would mean becoming champions

heinze isnt worth £7k let alone £7m
I'd agree with the first part but, ultimately I think Heinze is a very good player who would have added a fair amount to our backline this year if he got back to full fitness.

I doubt it very much if ferguson would have allowed his to transfer without a stipulation that he could not come back within 6 months to another premiership club
"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."
His move to Real happened incredibly quickly after he lost the court case.
Perhaps this was all a part of the plan? LFC and Rafa were so fiercely determined to land him, and so confident that we would, that it seemed strange how quickly we seemed to raise the white flag and let him move to Real within hours of the end of the court case.
It was as though the move to Real had already been set up. Maybe we realised that an appeal would carry us beyond the transfer deadline and a temporary, six month 'loan' to Real was a more efficient way of bringing him in...eventually.
?
I can't imagine us having an agreement with Real from the beginning but I can imagine them signing Heinze with a view to using his as a bargaining chip at a later date.
Real love nothing more than using their power and status to acquire an asset to gain any advantage, be it on football, financial or political level.
