He played the full 90 and did pretty well - was upstaged by two goals from RvPersie. He could have of got a couple himself but only bagged one in the last minute with a near post header from a left wing cross.

Van Basten (Dutch manager) got some stick over the weekend for a very poor performance by his team in a scrappy 1-0 win over mighty Luxembourg so he was pleased the team played better.

The Netherlands produced a convincing display to defeat Belarus in Eindhoven and go top of UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying Group G. Belarus had goalkeeper Vasili Khomutovski to thank for keeping the scores down, but two goals either side of the break from Robin van Persie and a late third by Dirk Kuijt were enough for the Oranje.

    Van Persie strikes
Keen to deliver a better performance than they had managed in Saturday's 1-0 win in Luxembourg, the Netherlands dominated from the start with a succession of corners and deep crosses into the Belarus box. The lively Van Persie popped up from nowhere just after the half-hour to fire a right-footed shot past Khomutovski and Wesley Sneijder was unlucky to see his right-footer hit the post three minutes later.

    Dutch pressure
Kuijt and Klaas Jan Huntelaar both had opportunities to double the Dutch advantage before half-time but could offer little to seriously test the Belarus keeper. The second half began in much the same manner, with the Oranje applying the pressure but unable to find their way through. Van Persie finally made the points safe when a 78th-minute cross from defender André Ooijer found the Arsenal FC forward on the edge of the area and he curled a superb shot past Khomutovski. The hosts' third goal was then supplied by Van Persie whose cross was met by Kuijt's powerful header.

Yeah was good to see that, was creating asmuch as the opportunities he was getting. Van Persie looked very good.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Seemed to be involved in all that was good - very unselfish player from what I have seen of him.
At a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

Its starting to though. Henry is a fine example, creates almost asmuch as he scores, or seemingly so anyway. Think i read somewhere that Kuyt used to be a winger when he started out first, would could explain his creative side, much like Henry.

Dirk didnt ever play on the wing at Utrecht (where he was before going to Feyenoord) or at de Kuip - that's not to say he couldn't - although he doesnt have electric pace so would struggle imo.

He played on the right of a front '3' for the national team and can certainly play inside right.

Kuyt had a overhead kick that just missed the top corner, he had a goal disallowed then scored with a deft back header. The lad is getting better with every passing week.
