How Many Red Cards on Sat, Hopefully None!

    Dirty BS Scum!

The first Merseyside derby of the season takes place on Saturday lunchtime with both Everton and Liverpool unbeaten in the league this season and preparing for their usual levels of energetic conflict.

In previous encounters this desire to win has spilt over into rash challenges and infamous melees, with various referees being forced to reach into their back pocket and pull out the ultimate in punishment: the loathed red card.

Indeed, clashes between these two sides have produced more sendings off than any other fixture in Premiership history:

Premiership Fixtures With Most Red Cards
    Liverpool v Everton 14
Aston Villa v Newcastle Utd 10
    Chelsea v Everton 10
    Middlesbrough v Southampton 9
Leeds Utd v West Ham Utd 9
    Newcastle Utd v Everton 9

Everton Football Club feature quite heavily in this list, with two of their other regular fixtures (against Chelsea and Newcastle) in the top six dismissals.

When the Mersey giants met at Anfield in March there were two red cards and nine yellows, but fans of both sides will surely hope that Saturday's game is remembered more for outstanding play than rampant ill-discipline.

You should look at who has been sent off in the derby, I think it is mostly thwem lot (3 last season, Jeffers, 2 when murphy got the winner in the 2-1 at goodison, Unsworth in 97, Graveson in 2000, that is eight already)
Amusingly look Barnsley's red crads for 1998/99 here
        BARNSLEY (5)
        Darren Barnard v Liverpool 28.03.98
        Chris Morgan v Liverpool 28.03.98
        Darren Sheridan v Liverpool 28.03.98
Georgi Hristov v Leeds Utd 04.04.98
Jovo Bosancic v Leicester City 02.05.98

Don't like teams begining with L do they.

Its games like this that I worry about Momo
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

2 red cards for blueslime, Carsley and Unsworth.
"In fact I’m going to make a promise which will be welcomed by many. If there’s no finance secured by the opening day of the season, I’m going to hang up my keyboard and close KOPTALK down." - Duncan Oldham, Expert Conman. March 29th 2006

Unsworth has to be a hardcore Bitter to sent of, as he plays for Sheff. Utd.
