That was unbelievable. A red was the right decision anyway but it didn't look like Clattenburg was going to give it until Stevie had a word.

Yep, it was the right decision as he was 'last man'. We got our payback for the Chelsea game. Whatever the strangeness of the decisions it was the right result on the balance of play. Everton never looked like scoring and none of their players actually did. But for some woeful finishing (from everyone) we should have hammered them.

A good night's sleep does good for the morale mate.

We should have won easily had we converted our chances. Neverton only had some half ones from corners and long punts upfield and one debatable decision at the end where Lescott fell over Carra.

I felt that at the time that we deserved to win. I'd just like if we crushed these sides. Liverpool need to be ruthless.

I'm always better the following day Passion does tend to get the better of me on match days. I may have to hide the keyboard next sunday.

I can't think of a better ref in the Premier league. I know that the blue****e will think he had a poor game yesterday, but he's a decent ref more often than not.

Mate, if we were on the receiving end of yesterday's officiating we would be calling for him to be shot. I'm not complaining but I'd rather not play any game with him in charge again

The villa penalty, the chelski penalty - we've had some pretty shocking decisions against us this season. What goes around, comes around. The other thing to point out is that lescott was backing into players all the game. The ref gave the benefit of the doubt to the defender when he went down in the area.

I don't go for this "gerrard changed clattenberg's mind" nonsense, he barely said anything as he walked past him. Hardly intimidating was it? The ref got the wrong card out by mistake is all.

Fair enough DS but we're running out of referees that we'll have at Anfield.

I agree about what goes around comes around. We deserve some luck after the Chelsea penalty decision and we got it yesterday. But Tom, say what you want about Lescott backing into players but he was 100% pulled down by Carra. It would be interesting to see what Carra says about it...

Happy days though, it's made my weekend.

Yeah looking at it yesterday it was a pen. My mate was behind the goal and said that lescott pushed backwards to make them both go down. Maybe that's what the ref thought. Couldn't be a better result for a derby though. Last minute winner against the bitters at woodison.

They'll be living off the bitter memories of this for years.

I exactly saw it like that. Carra grabbed Lescott's shirt as he was going down. Clattenburg was spot on. I'll say it again, he had a great game yesterday even though I was swearing at him for allowing fouls against us (namely Carra) when players were backing into him all game. He got that right, fortunately, as a **** like Rob Styles would have certainly given that penalty to the bitters at the end.

As I said earlier, it doesn't get much better than a controversial win at Goodison. And although the performance wasn't a good one I think the manner of our win will do wonders for our side's confidence. It's games like this that turn seasons. We have the momentum now, a win at Besiktas and then against Arsenal and it's game on again.

to be fair, I don't really think it's been "game off" - I don't go with the negative view that seems to be rife on this board. Best away record in the league, outstanding defense, unbeaten. We always improve hugely as the season goes on. We're really well placed to kick on. We've also got key players coming back.

The performance yesterday wasn't outstanding but it was a typical derby - you rarely get good football when the bitters are involved.

I'm still hugely positive that we're going to have a say in the final run-in.

Honestly one of the best Refs I have seen in years ... was chuffed when I seen it was him ...
