He even questioned the ref on the Hibbert pen. Tosser.

Anyone else hear that his daughter is a red? He needs to take major stick for that.
She probably can't stand him and chose us to piss him off

But nothing that I was brought up to believe about football (and to be fair, we were taught these lessons from the likes of Shankly and Paisley) tells me that having two defensive midfielders on the park (one of whom cannot pass to save his life) makes sense against ten men.

Yes bringing the Brazilian lad on was fair do's. But not for Gerrard. It was Momo who desperately needed to make way.
As for Momo, he is doing the right things and trying to get the players confidence back. If he was dumped, that wouldn't improve his game one bit. I think he played better than last time today, which is an improvement. Take it from there, bit by bit. That's good modern day man management.

Shanks and Paisley were legends, but football isn't the same again and we can't always look at what they did, as not everything applies nowadays. Football players are superstar millionaires with their own ego, and are influenced by agents and the likes, making it a whole load more difficult to manage today.

His commentary today was a one-man campaign to try and heap more pressure on Rafa. He said on about 25 occasions that Rafa would be under extreme pressure if we didn't win. He never addressed the Hibbert penalty properly (i.e. he didn't mention that Hibbert was the last man back, and prevented a goalscoring opportunity by fouling on the 18 yard line) continually focussing on the fact that the ref took a yellow out before brandishing a red.
He was embarrassing...in the same way that Phil Thompson can be embarrassingly biased towards us. (Although we obviously find that amusing!)

why not get some width on early and shift the ball round passing the ****ers to death so they tire even more quickly?

What has changed about the game that makes two defensive midfielders more likely to break down a 10 man team than it used to be??

It hurts to see us struggling to overcome a clearly inferior side such as Everton. It hurts when we draw so many games. It hurts that we are still a long way from playing the football that will really excite the fans. Arsenal next will be a true indication of where we are going this season.

Man Utd haven't set the world alight too and the most important thing is to win, no matter the performance. We did play well for the first 3 matches though, so to me it's a confidence crisis, no more.

We created enough to win it without the penalties ... Both with 2 defensive midfielders.

                I rest my case Alun.

The difference is that United won it last year, and have proved that they can be an adventurous attacking side. We haven't yet.

That's United style and has never been ours (apart from the 1987/88 team). We were always the more balanced and tactical team, historically.

Rafa will win it his way.

I reckon that is what SG was supposed to be doing. Yossi was doing it well down the left, but as usual, SG decided he knew best and wandered off into the middle, leaving no outlet on the right and no cover for Finnan and completely unbalancing the tea.

It is a team game you know, Stevie.

                        Too right.

I am really happy with that win.

If you want a match winner, Gerrard is one of them. Is Sissoko. We wouldn't have even been in the game without Gerrard. The first 10 mins were much like the previous 30 until Gerrard got us the pen and reduced them to 10 men.

I know people will quote the league position, but I remember Houllier being top of the league, and I knew in my heart of hearts we were never going to stay there.

Time is going to tell on this. Personally, I think Rafa was garbage today. If the ref had made the correct decision it would have been 2-2.

It was there for the taking, but he chose caution. Fundamentally, that worries me, because it happens too often. Perhaps its the reason why we are so inept at breaking teams down. Perhaps the fact that he played with two defensive midfielders against 10 men is an expression of the reason why we do.

Is he a manager who'll have the balls to take a team to the cleaners? My doubts are there. I'm just glad I can express them in the aftermath of a victory.
At this point, I'm coming to the conclusion that SG doesn't know how to or doesn't want to play as a PART of a winning TEAM.

                            Sorry fredo. That's not true.

I don't know how old you are mate - you may not be old enough to remember but we've won the title year after year in style. As for the 88 side not a patch on the late 70's / early 80's lads.

Utd's title last year was won by 1 man alone...Ronaldo. All this crap about Scholes etc. is just that...crap. Ronaldo craeted / scored so many late goals for them last year it was untrue. He was the difference.

If that's the case why are always relying upon him to drag us back into the game by the bollocks. Maybe his teammates should take some of the load.

SG's lung busting run yet again through the middle got us back in the game. If the boss objects to that he can **** off in my book. If he keeps /buying putting out such defensive midfields, making daft decisions and not making the most of the few top class players we have then he's in the wrong job.
