89/90 season, wasn't that the side that played like the Arsenal of today?

At the end of the day, a win is a win no matter how well or badly you play. Unlike horse racing there's no consolation prize for the best turned out pony...
I've seen every title winning side since the late 60s many from the Kop. We were known as a side that played as a team and didn't rely on outstanding individuals, some of the things that we used to get called were "shankly's robots" "passing teams to death", "the team that always passes backwards first" etc.

there is only one liverpool side that played with flair and that was the barnes, beardsley, rush/adridge team. But that was the exception.

I think you mean the 87/88 season, and they were more like brazil of `70 than ****in arsenal

That team was an exception to the rule, we generally used to win the league with ruthless efficiency, and winning while playing ****e because our players had bollocks and knew what it takes to win.

Whats wrong with expecting a lot from the most celebrated club in Britain?

Sorry Tom I don't agree with that. The 77-80s team was just as good if not better. I've seen them play with flair. 7-0 v Spurs etc. etc ?

Yep, if we don't batter every team 6-0 we're a ****ing disgrace...

Disagree, I attended every home from the kop that team played. That team reminded more of the last chelsea team to win last premiership. Ruthless efficiency.

I too was a season ticket holder at that time. I agree with that last statement - that's exactly the word I used to sum us up on another thread here - ruthless. But we did play with style and flair - not always, but no team does that. We were the best, the very best.

post match thoughts are that Momo needs an extended break. He really is off colour at the moment.

Like the look of Lucas but still very early.

We need more quality up top. Kuyt seemed to actually stay further up top this week though...

Babel worries me. Pennant looked okay in the 5 mins he had. Why does Rafa always wait so long to make changes?

Taking Stevie off was surely to rest him ahead of Champs league. Rafa in his post match basically said he wanted someone on to play with "head and not heart". Bit harsh on Stevie I thought.

Finally, we're playing faily average at the moment but still unbeaten. Surely a good sign
