    A new left-back..

    ..could be under our noses: Joleon Lescott.

    He's exactly what Rafa wants (Heinze!) - a man who can play left back and cover centre half as well.

    Not that I'm dismissing JAR - but there are rumours of a move to Villa so IMO JL would be a good replacement.

    Thoughts?

      He can't pass for toffee and does not have great control. It would be a short term fix to our squad balance rather than a genuine move forward in talent.

      I think we need to look for fullbacks who are capable passers and can help us move the ball into midfield. Increasingly the attacking qualities of fullbacks are important in modern football. Lescott offers more at corners than most but in open play he is generally horrible - he had the beating of Finnan in the air all day against us and still created little.

        Sorry, don't think so.

        Even I would be decent at left back with all the space that was given to Lescott, mainly since SG didn't help Finnan out enough.

        He is in great form at the moment though, but I reckon he is a centre back.

          Agree that a LB may be due in shortly but rather not that ugly ****er thank you. Lets be having someone with pace who can actually defend eh.

                  Use him as a backup to Arbeloa.
                  Just believe and you never know what will happen.

                  According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
