this is a statement i cannot understand.
while people fully acknoledge that rafa's methods and general approach have been good enough to pip both the spanish giants twice to the title, as well as to win both europe's biggest prizes, they beleive he doesn't have what it takes to win the epl. it really does my head in when people say "negative tactics don't win you the league in england" which makes you wanna beleive spurs or arsenal won the league two seasons ago instead of negative-to-the-bone-chelsea. for whatever reason rafa has never been given a chance by some sections of the media even though his legacy has been a team of average players at best with hardly any money to spend but everybody fully expected him to deliver in no time.

Might be because they're two totally different and separate leagues mate...

But it seems to have made sense as Lucas should have scored and we won.

Stevie was trying to do it all by himself and he was taking risks and losing the ball. Rafa subbed him just as he aimed a left footed shot in the stands instead of trying to pass it around and create an opening. The second penalty came after a passing move in which Lucas was instrumental and we played in and around the Everton penalty box.

Right ok, so you were sitting there thinking "We should take off Stevie" then, were you? If it was such an obvious move to make, like...

Call him lucky, I won't. It was a risk worth taking based on the result alone.

Jesus mate we won the game and Lucas won the peno.

last week people were harping on that Subs Rafa makes never change games yet after a weekend where he has taken our Captain and talisman off for a young kid making his league debut who won the match winning peno for us he is now getting knocked for it.

Everyone was shocked when he took Stevie off but it worked and we won the game end of discussion.

Indeed, that is why there's such a level of concern about it among some of us.

We're not doing it to just 'get at' Rafa, as part of some 'mission' like some dullard alluded to yesterday...we're doing it because we fear the negative consequences.

How do you know we won in spite of Rafa? I think that is a ridonculous statement to make.

Just because he took Stevie off and we won the game? Shock horror Rafa takes Stevie off and we still win.
