Ok, I can see your point, but I am not sure the team will be stronger, but for another reason I think might be tied in with this topic:

Do you reckon this is somehow tied in with Rafa's, imo, reluctance or lack, should I say, to really appreciate and make use of individual creativity and artistry on the pitch?

In another thread I explained that I thought Rafa was the worlds greatest control freak. This explains the whole discussion about replacable cogs, and Stevie's "indiscipline".

Individual creativity and artistry imply the complete release of control and my reading of Rafa's psyche is that he could not handle that in the slightest.

His idea of creativity is probably a list.

..
n/ else that

This is at least deterministic and Rafa could cope with that. But let's be honest can you see him saying, as AW said to Henry, "Express yourself!".

The time to compare Rafa to Fergie and Wegner is in 10 years time. They have had that much of a head start on him. Fergie has been tweaking his team for 15 years and Wegner for 10. Rafa has had to build from scratch a 24 man squad and then a youth pipleline in the last 4 years. AND he has had to do this on a paupers budget.

Do you really think he would have bought Crouch and Kuyt if he could have brought in Torres 3 years ago? Course not. The guy has been playing with his hands tied behind his back.

With our funding and now having a pretty good squad, we'll be going into tweak mode. But remember, we will always be at a disadvantage to fergies and wegner as they have much more money than us.

This is a good post. I agree totally. For my money you wont be able to find a better replacement manager for LFC if he was to resign or get the boot. The probelm is that he is bound to get on peoples tits when he doesnt play the same side for a streak of 99 games... Whatever people say about him analysing each opposition side in detail - those stats just seem to push it for me. Surely this is a controversial area where fans are 100% entitled to voice criticism? and until he wins a title it will continue.....

Im not willing to wait 10 or 15 years for the league title, **** that, its been 17 already. Rafa gets better and more consistent within this season or next or gets the boot. I love the guy and all but I want the ****ing league title please!!!

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I didn't mean people should not comment or form assessments of him. I meant he should be given this season to prove he is taking the club in the right direction before people start calling for his head.

I know the piss taking thread, got nothing to do with that, its just your constant bashing that is getting irritating and boring tbh..there is absolutely nothin' wrong with opinions we all have one but you tend to take things a bit OTT all the time man, chill and judge the team at the end of the season.
I never said my opinion was the right one, never have never will.
Just SUPPORT the team and be constructive instead of being negative all the time.

i don't feel as i did about houllier. i completely wrote houllier off. i've not done that with rafa. but he is really worrying me. and i'm disagreeing with many things he does now on a fairly regular basis.

Ive not "bashed" Kuyt just said a few times he wasnt good enough for us, it is my opinion as you have yours that would say otherwise.

FWIW , my opinion

Rafa is far ahead of Houllier in may respects, just look at his record at Valencia, and also the style of play there, they cut us to pieces as I am sure we all remember.

Houllier stuck with his favourites even when it was obvious they were gash, Rafa has moved on Josemi, Bellamy and others after one season.

Rafa has a far bigger transfer budget to work with now, he bought Torres , who I think we all agree is top class, so I believe he will, slowly, buy more top class attacking talent.

He is a control freak, impersonal, not "arm round the shoulder" , so he needs a "good cop" no2. Sammy Lee, Roy Evans or somebody needs to come in and support some of the players emotionally in order to get the best out of the team.

I don't understand some of his team selections/substitutions and they do worry me, he sometimes puts square pegs in round holes (Houllieresque!!)

Even if we don't win the Prem this year I still want to see him as manager next season,I think he will buy more quality in Jan and next summer.

In summation, I am worried and at times baffled, but still trust him and will be patient until tthe end of 2008.

Re this forum, why can't people disagree without personal insults??

you have no life but to search my posts to prove me wrong..I never post threads slagging players off over and over again..my assesment was based on 1 game no more(Momo did have a bad game, a blind man can see that, as for Crouch; the writing is on the wall and again there was no slagging off on my part). You base your assesment on our players all the time and feel the need to prove your point by posting boring meanlingess threads/polls.
Give it a fooking rest fella its getting tiresome in all your threads.

PS: HESKEY is still a donkey. You dont know the history of KT. Many people were ahead of me with their views on him.

Again we're going on in circles. Rafa isn't above criticism nor the players, but seeing comments such as 'momo is ****e' or 'rafa is ****ing clueless' or has 'lost the plot' is extremely frustrating and it has driven many decent posters off these forums lately.

Winning the league is not as cut and dried and simple as people make it out. Rafa can't automagically build teams which plays fantasy football all the time. It's about the players too, fitting and understanding his system and fully backing it, without the moaning to the press (Crouch at the start of the season). Gerrard seems to have taken his substitution on the chin, and that should be like that. Rafa is the boss, not him nor the supporters.

At the end of the day, we aren't playing well and still within touching distance of the leaders, who are playing much better than us at the moment. It may get worse, what will we know, but in my opinion some players are suffering from a loss of confidence.

Discussion is good, unless it's the same arguments over and over and over again, and that is depressing. We're supporters, so we should stick with supporting the team without being negative on the whole. That's what too many posters have been doing lately.
