I've actually enjoyed the debate on this thread.

No-one getting abusive and everyone (apart from Fredo) getting their point accross.

However you can **** right off you junkie

United started the season like a bag of ham drawing to Reading at home, losing to Man City etc yet all of a sudden they have turned it round and are starting to look like champions again. We've had a few dodgy draws but are still undefeated yet all of a sudden we aren't championship contenders and are fighting for 3rd and 4th.

We need to see how everything pans out before we jump to conclusions A few dodgy performances doesn't make us crap and by the same token if we thump Arsenal on Sunday it doesn't automatically make us title contenders.
United have already proven they can the title. We havent.

So when they have a poor patch, it's natural to think it's the exception to the rule, and that they'll come good.

When we slip away, it's normal to think "Oh well, that's that" because it's what happens year after year.

The thing people seem to forget is we were MILES off last season.

What has happened to suddenly say that a 21 point gap will be bridged?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Every team rotate players and every manager make mistakes over the course of the season. Fergie is currently persisting with Rooney AND Tevez when many pundits are saying they can't play together. Does he care ? No, he doesn't give a flying ****.

If Rafa (or any other manager for that matter) is gonna listen to the press and every supporter, then surely that's not right. He has to believe and stick to his principles and change them if he sees it's not working. At the moment we're not doing too badly.

At the end of the day, it's at the end of the season when we sit back and judge. Not in October.
If he doesnt have the players for the methods he uses, they why the feck doesnt he use a different method until he HAS got the players he wants?

It's his fourth year, i'd like to think he's got most of what he wants, otherwise what's he been doing for 3 years?

It seems like we're saying he doesnt have the players he needs to properly use his methods...but all the same, he's using them despite the fact that they wont work with the players he currently has. In which case, that is silly and will not achieve anything.

Nothing but what's to say it can't be bridged? If we win our game in hand we are one point behind United and if we beat Arsenal on Sunday we are right back within striking distance of them. To say we are fighting for 3rd and 4th so early in the season when we are still in a decent position is IMO very knee jerk.

I think we potentially already have that third player, he just gets left on the bench more often than not.

But Rafa don't buy many superstar players isn't it, apart from Torres who's the only case in point, IMO.
And Rafa dont win many Premier League titles either. Is the penny starting to drop?

Well, it was an argument thrown about, at the end of the day we haven't got a clue mate.

It's been well documented that he was after Alves a couple of years ago, he didn't get him. He was probably (that's speculation) after Villa too. And the list can go on.

He's building a squad which is slowly (IMHO) coming closer and closer. We're getting results, even when we're playing ****e, which shows we're starting to have the quality required. The crunch will come against teams such as Arsenal and Manure, when we'll know if we can beat them or not. We should have beaten Chelsea if it was not for a freak decision.

To be fair to him, he hasn't said we were gonna challenge outright this season, but simply stated that it will become clearer in the months to come. We're potentially 3rd (if we win our game in hand) and 3 points off the top if we beat Arsenal on Sunday. Not dramatic isn't it ?
