Doubt it expect Leto to get another run out there.Originally posted by Morphorino View Posthe wasn't fit enough to travel with the squad to Besiktas, now maybe he will be okay for Arsenal, but with these metatarsel injurys things can be a bit iffy, I very much doubt he'll play. There's a reserve match on thursday, lets see if he turns out for them.
Agger maybe on the bench if Hyypia gets another arsehole ripped out of him

We know that this team can grind out long sequence of wins. if we set out on such a run now and still within touching distance of the leader by new year, then anything can happen.
There will be an air of positivity among the fans and players which will feed each other and hopefully spur us onto .....winning is a habit (old cliche I know!) we're not playing consistently well but we are still winning/unbeaten and now were are grabbing last min goals, which is a bit unusual for us. If we can string a few more wins together, I think the players confidence will grow, the style of football wiil improve and become more consistant and who knows where we'll end up.Originally posted by fah-q View PostAgree, if we can go on our usual mid season run of consecutive wins (which usually start about now) we could be in serious contention still come march/april time. Then Rafa's "rested" players will come into their own.
That'd shut the press up about rotation.

You know what I bang on about all the gob****es on line but mixed amongst the sea of baboons are posters like you mate, intelligent well thought out analysis, excellent post and you are so right money..Originally posted by Morphorino View PostJust been thinking about this before, so far this season we've:
- Nearly won as many away games by the end of october as we did all last season
- We've won two games now right at the death, and pulled a point back in another
- We've dug in and got points in games we would probably have expected to lose last season
These aren't traits of Rafa's LFC in past seasons, and are things a lot of us have been eager to see, particularly the away improvement, and pulling 3 points out right at the death even if we aren't playing well. These are usually the traits of title winning sides or at least those sides challenging at the top.
Things have been a bit dodgy in the league recently but I think the Evertone match was just the result we needed, it gave us belief that we can go out and take points in these types of games were last season we'd normally be the team finishing worse off.
We've got Alonso, Torres, Agger and a few others due back in the next week or so (Kewell
) and these are all very important players and imo bang on first team starters, and considering we've been without some of them for a considerable amount of time, I think we've been performing admirably. If we can get a decent result v Arse (and a draw wouldn't be a terrible result), then I think we can kick on looking at our next set of fixtures and find ourselves right up there come the new year, and that's something we've not seen for quite a few years now.

I'm note sure this is such a revelation it's just that we are doing more what we tend to do later in the season earlier. However I have a slight worry that we are not showing signs of controlling play or improving our attacking cohesion match on match.Originally posted by Morphorino View PostJust been thinking about this before, so far this season we've:

Man United went through a patch of bad games but not only won most of them but also improved game on game in and now seem back to form. I'm slightly worried that we haven't been improving but hopefully the result against Everton will give us the confidence which has been lacking in the last few games to push on. If we can get a result against Arsenal with the players you highlight to come back then everything does start to look very promising."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

well we've done all this with a lot of the flair players missing. Once those guys are back and clicking with the others then we can really do some damage.Originally posted by dww View PostI'm note sure this is such a revelation it's just that we are doing more what we tend to do later in the season earlier. We absolutely had that with Owen - in fact he was more that type of player - but it didn't mean we were going to win the league.Originally posted by peekay View PostHaving a player up front who can make a goal out of half chances has added a whole new dimension to our team. Torres is a quality signing but Rafa has shown that, unlike Owen, he is not going to be an ever-present even when fit. He also doesn't appear to know who his best partner is, and even if he did I'm not sure he'd let any kind of partnership form. Remember last season - Crouch + Kuyt won 12 of 15 games they played together, drawing 1 and losing 2, but that equates to starting just 1 in 4 matches as a pairing. Bellamy and Kuyt started around 20 games together but won less than half.
I wish I had your faith in how Rafa handles attacking players but considering how he's treated Crouch and the sheer volume of turnover up front I just don't see it.
