when kewell is finally fit surely he.....

    has to play

    Babel Torres

    Kewell Alonso Masher Gerrard

Every player has talent and technical ability, surely what ever liverpool player must have before putting on the shirt. Sadly most of the players he is putting out have neither.

I'd also like to see Yossi instead of Kewell in thar line up with Babel and Stevie playing the support roles for Torres.

Babel looks like he has goals in him, Stevie played right has goals in him, Yossi dito, and Torres is Torres.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

"Every player there has talent and ability". Ok

"Most of the players we're putting out don't?" Hmmm, didn't 3 of that 6 play last night? And the other 3 were all injured, or they might well have played too. So the point is.......????

Sack the board. We've won nothing since the Yanks took over...

I do believe that playing Babel up front is the way forward. Babel seems to have the necessary attributes to excel - he is quick, has strong shot, technically is better than Voronin and Kuyt who, not for the first time, offered nothing last night. Surprising as I thought they would be cut out for the slower, more patient European game but we didn't didn't play to our strengths at all last night.

Not sure if we should be relying on Kewell for the left-wing spot though. May be Benayoun on the left and Pennat (or Gerrard) on the right is more plausible?

The way we started this season i didnt think Kewell would get anywhere near the first team.
The way we've performed these last weeks quite frankly i cant wish him back quick enough.
Babel should play up front end of. He is no way a winger and i believe we are wasting a hugely talented player.
Im sorry to say it, but i find Rafa is becoming more and more Houllier-esque for playing players out of position.
Why doesnt he just go and buy a ****ing winger?

I thought Babel was excellent last night, he worked 2 roles very well and was surprised that Voronin wasnt taken off and Babel pushed upfront.

Well, he will probably play tonight.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I agree. I thought he had a good game, aside from may be coming inside at times when he would have been better going on the outside of his man (may be he isn't left footed and that's why he was coming infield?). The guy is young and raw, but I have no doubts he has the technical ability, the pace and power to excel as a striker in the Premiership with the right coaching and development.

I was hoping for Benayoun to come on for Voronin (or may be Kuyt), to take Babel's position on the left and for Babel to go up front. But it seems Pennant was injured which meant Benayoun playing on the right and Babel staying on the left. Still, Rafa should have changed it by bringing on Crouch earlier.

I have to disagree with Red_Hot on this one. Babel was one of the few Liverpool players to come out of last night with any credit.

Last night needed calm heads and nerves given the magnitude of the game for us and the hostile atmosphere we were up against. In this department wise stalwarts like Carra, Hyypia and Gerrard were found badly wanting. I thought Babel, in spite of his age, was one of our more composed performers.

the lad kept on going, always showed for the ball and kept on trying to attack/create something. Which is a lot more than could be said for some of the others.
