there's aspects to this article that i don't agree with but he's fairly on the money regarding SG. what disappoints me is the relatively small number of views this thread has and the nature of the responses.

i think i'll give up saying it after this but posts along the lines of coops' "I reckon we are the best team in the world with the best manager so a big **** off to whatever miserable prick wrote that article" are the most pointless things anyone could write on an internet forum. it's the equivalent of being dressed as a cheerleader and wandering into random houses and chanting 24 hours a day. no offence to coops - he's a red to the marrow and probably even bleeds red once the first gushes of cider are over but what's the point of posts like that?

we want to be the best team in the world as befits our level and support and history but we're not at the moment. we're not even the best team in our own league. yet. an we must face the fact that it might not happen under rafa. that's not doom-mongering. it's realism.

Best in the world when at Anfield. Any other time they play up to the stereotype of whinging moaning Scousers (such as Earl and training slave). If anyone has listened to the footbal phone-ins on Radio Merseyside on a saturday and monday nights, you will have heard some utter, utter bollocks spoken by men whos voices get more and more high pitched as they speak. One defeat and Rafa must be sacked, rotation doesn't work, zonal marking is rubbish blah blah de blah. And the stories that come from away games - fighting their own fans, the stewards "self policing" the stands - just makes me wonder is it the 1970's all over again.
