I am not Kuyt's biggest fan by any means but I would like to say something in his defence.
When he first came to us he was like a breath of fresh air. Hir phenomenal work rate and barnet drew comparisons with the inevitable. Since those days we have come to realise his limitations as a player in that his first touch needs a lot of work, he lacks a yard of pace and is wasteful in front of goal.
He was purchased for approx £9.5m and has struggled since to justify that fee for a top draw striker. However, this season he has looked particularly poor and i think it might have something to do with the death of his father.
I know some out there will say "christ he's paid £45k per week and cost £9m quid. he should be able to keep his emotions in check".
Having lost my father It took me years to accept it so how can you expect someone to get over it within 3 or 4 months.
Granted he is a professional footballer and paid very well, but if he was a brickie or a carpenter would you feel the same way about him. Would you be more understanding about his situation if he wasnt feeling up to things ?
The same can be said for all the players. We as the fans of this great club have to accept that the players who we idolise and treat like gods are indeed just like us. They have good and bad days at the office and sometimes have other things on their minds when they should be performing at their work.
Our players are just human beings. Please bear that in mind when some idiot posters just get on here to barrack players like Kuyt and Sissoko. As long as they try their best we should always get behind them.
That's the Liverpool way.
