    Rafa pleased with Lucas progress

Rafael Benitez has praised the talents of Brazilian midfielder Lucas and has backed him to make a big impact at Liverpool.
The former Gremio star played a key role in the Merseyside derby win over Everton last weekend, when he had the shot that led to the winning penalty, and the Reds manager said he would not hesitate to give him a chance in a big game again.

"It could be that he can now feature more," said Benitez. "I was talking about Lucas for a long time, and maybe people didn't know too much about him. He is a player with quality and experience.

"He's only 20 but already has experience at international level. I have a lot of confidence in him, though we do have very good players in the middle.

"He will need time, but he has shown now the quality he has."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

i know it sounds a bit stupid really but this guy gives me a good feeling. he didn't do much against besiktas when he came on but he has a way of passing the ball that gives me a lot of hope. head is always up and lookng around. seems very calm and unruffled too. could end up being bollox and being sold in 18 months but i think rafa really wanted this guy.

now all that remains is for rafa to play him on the right/left wing until he's "broken"...

I thought he was as poor against Besiktas as he was good against Everton.

But certainly he is a very good prospect and a good option to have
