Why does Rafael Benitez get his tactics wrong so many times?

When we play at home, doesn't matter who the opponent is, we should be going for the win and to aplly as much pressure as possible on the opposing team. With this in mind it has surley got to be 4-4-2 with two wide men and stevie g in the middle eg:

REINA

FINNAN
CARRAGHER
AGGER
ARBELOA

BABEL (left)
ALONSO
GERARD
PENNANT/BENNAYOUN

KYUT
TORRES

as for away games it has to be 4-5-1 unless it is against a smaller weaker team.

But rafa constantly plays kyut or voronin wide, riise left wing, sissoko and mascherano together in middle etc...

he has to sort it out and go for the win every home game and stop this ridiculous rotation every game with players out of position!

Why start Kuyt & Voronin on the wing when Babel & Banayoun are fit ?

hmmm, I actually thought the formation was good and by and large it worked well until Xabi went off. I thought Kuyt was solid and showed for the ball a lot, although he was a bit wasteful from time to time. But the Crow was poor again today, certainly Babel or Yossi should have taken his place.

It would have worked so much better if Kewell was in there instead of Voronin, I'm looking forward to him being back, i've got this funny feeling he's going to be our saviour this season

obviously there could be a few variations in personal but I thought tonight we looked pretty good until Xabi went. We dont really have much in the way of traditional wngers, so I dont see why we cant play with Babel and Stevie up in support of Torres, would provide us with a lot of pace, skill and shooting ability.

I thought Kuyt played well in that formation but it didn't seem to suit Voronin at all. He was anonymous throughout.

If you're going to play 4-3-3 surely it would have made sense to start Babel as he has played that system for Ajax and Holland.

if you listen to rafa's pre match chat on sky sports, he said it was between torres and crouch on who would play and he went with torres for his pace. I find this odd, because it's not been between them for the last few games, and Crouch still hasn't played
