Yep Rhodri, i still feel we'll win the league and i'm not kidding. Still very early days and this match just came at a bad time. We would have stuffed them if it was played on another day. The stats showed we had 20 attempts on goal compared to Evertons 8.

Don't think that's unfair. They set their stall out to defend and nullify our midfield. They did start to play a little better when we were down to 10 men. I'm not concerned one bit by this defeat. We'll get better and we'll win this league.Originally posted by Neil YoungI think that's unfair. Everton didn't play like complete thugs, they competed better and took their chances.
The referee was poor but then so were nearly all our players.

We can make excuses all we want,
but Everton deserved to win.
We created more chances because we had to.
Everton could just hold on.
Yes, we had bad luck going forward
- but we also had some terrible defending at times.
Now we just need to take it on the chin and move on.
Some big games coming up.

It was really difficult for us today ... difficult to play good passing football as Neverton were harrassing our midfield and Xabi - Stevie (as well as some others) were not at their best. I'm a bit concerned about Robbie as he seems a bit off the pace already.Originally posted by TheStigIf Riise hadn't come off I think we'd have scored at least one. We were all over them at that stage, and had been for about 15-20 mins.

Defending and nullifying the opposition midfield is pretty much how we won three trophies in 2001.
You can't blame them for playing to their strengths. Their best chance of winning was to play it the way they did. It's still football, it's just not very attractive..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Because Neverton didn't play well (they probably played the worst). The stats showed that. We and Poll gifted them 2 goals and they just defended from that point.Originally posted by NICKZSWe weren't complaining about football like that when we won the Champions League so why should we berate Everton for doing the same
Anyway, whats done is done. Move forward and let the bluescum bask in their glory albeit temporarily.

We didn't play like that apart from the GH's era. We were more subtle than that anyway mate.Originally posted by Neil YoungDefending and nullifying the opposition midfield is pretty much how we won three trophies in 2001.

FFS, it's only a football game and we've hardly lost the league isn't it.
