Glad to see El Zhar, Leto and Leiva on the teamsheet. I'm sure Crouch will seize this opportunity and prove that he deserves more of a look-in for league matches.

As for Gerrard and Carra, shoudln't be on the pitch IMO. Carra esp with our lack of defensive cover is too important to risk in a game of this type.

Carra is there because Aurelio and Arbeloa are just coming back from injury and wont be razor sharp and because Hobbs is inexperienced

aye he's a versatile attacker, can play left, right or up front, but he's mainly been getting deployed on the right hand side in the ressies

One of the two should play at the very least, i imagine one would have been rested if not for the injuries to agger, alonso, mascherano - sissoko's recent illness and Sami's inability to play more than 1 game in a row at a decent level

For this game, so do I (as long as he doesn't get injured). He's been playing himself back to form over the last couple of games.

Honestly, who cares about getting through in this competition? It's about priorities. For me this competition is so low on the list that irreplaceable players like Gerrard and Carra shouldn't be risked at this stage of the competition, esp at home to lower league clubs. You don't know what kind of dubious tactics these lower leageu clubs might employ
