Thought Hobbs was very good. Crouch had little service. Yossi made things happen consistently when he came on. SG and Yossi looked a class apart.

Player performances:
Itandje - no problems, no chance with the goal. Solid enough.
Arbeloa - One good cross - right on the money to Crouch - in about 10. For a right footed player he looks more comfortable on the left.
Hobbs - Did okay, had a nice driving forward run late in the game, which was a surprize.
Carragher - Solid. He and Crouch made a bit of mess of the marking for their goal though. But then we do use zonal marking, don't we?
Aurelio - what a difference he makes, instead of hoofs, cultured passes.
Lucas - started off okay then his passing got a little sloppy.
Gerrard - really getting there, had a few driving runs, one which he should've scored from when put through by Crouch. Goal was a brilliant counter attack.
El-Zhar - cracking goal. Stocky, strong and direct.
Leto - Awful. Looked slow and clumbersome. And he's a winger. Didn't look fit to me.
Babel - had a few efforts, but looked better when he moved to the flanks where he had more space to drive at defenders. I hope he isn't one of those enigmas who shows loads of promise but then breaks your heart.
Crouch - linked up well and had a few efforts. His link up play with Gerrard is almost telepathic. So much better than Kuyt or Voronin it's untrue.
Subs:
Benayoun - was excellent when he came on, brilliant play to set up Gerrards goal. Cardiff could barely get the ball off him. Unlucky not to score at the end. A must start against Blackburn.
Kewell - played up top when he came on. Looked a little slow, but to be expected.
Mascherano - came on in stoppage time.
Overall a half decent performance with a largely makeshift team. Roll on Blackburn.I hate Polanski
