Rafa would never play such a player regularly enough. There's not even any indication that Torres will always play when fit and I doubt we're going to spend 22M on another striker.

The only reason I can think about to why he demanded such a low buy-out clause is that he already thought about moving on after he had played two, three years for Atletico.

It will be up to him when he moves from Atletico because £22m won't frighten off the big clubs making a bid for him.

McCarthy is to old. We need a player to form a striker partnership with Torres for a long time.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

          Torres
          Aguero

          Nice.

If you want quality then you will have to pay big for it. You won't more or less be able to get a high quality player below £20m if the player is on a long term contract and won't turn down other clubs.

Arsenal fans dreams of Benzema for £15m. Lyon will never sell him for anything less than £25m+.

Sorry mate, that is just wrong.

You can get quality for less than £20m.... it's not like buying a handbag!!

Giving me the horn just talking about it. Time to go back to Kewell thread.

Agree, I think Rafa gave him his big chance on weds and he didn't make the most of it. I'm sure he'll get other oportunities to play up front, but not for a while now.

Me neither but I cling desperately to Tim Vickery’s claims some time ago that we had a genuine interest in him when he was at Independiente, but wouldn’t/couldn’t pay the sort of money they were asking.

Whereas Dirk Kuyt and some of the other lads we have playing for us week in, week out consistently justify their place in the first team with stellar performances?

Come on, lets sign Aguero! We'll give him a few games here and there, a Carling Cup game in his favoured position and if he doesn't play well immediately, it's back to the stands for him!

I never said I agree with it mate, but it's the way Rafa works, you know it'll be the case unless we get some more injuries up front
