Using a boxing anology, Coppell is the best pound for pound manager about.

Capello or Mourhinio. As far as I'm concerned these are Rafa's last days. We won in Istanbul inspite of Rafa and we lost in Athens because of his inept tactics.

There are those that will always support the manager no matter what. I'm obviously not one of them. Like Houllier before him Rafa is fast approaching his sell by date. Infact I'd have him out at Xmas and give Capello or Josie half a season to work out what to do.

Rafa's team selection is a joke. He has favourites that have done nothing to deserve to put on thr red shirt let alone merit a starting role week in week out.

Momo, Kyut, Babel, Pennant, Voronon are all ****. Hopefully he'll take them with him on his way out.

How Peter Crouch hasn't slapped Rafa I'll never know!

We'll soon be in the Championship and most of the fickle ****ers will have ****ed off so atleast we wont have any old ****e of an opinion forced on us after every game.
whats make a good manager? being in the right place at the right time, luck and connections.

how would wenger, fergie, rafa, etc do with the likes of crewe? dario gradi was a ****ing great manager. harry redknapp too is a top manager. they just don't get the breaks to land the top jobs.

I reckon I could have picked the team tonight and wouldn't have got a worse performance from the players. I know Gerrard is **** with his back to goal. I know Kuyt is useless up top on his own etc etc. I wouldn't be able to maintain it though as the players would be like who the hell are you! This is just what frustrates me, Rafa has a good selection of players, not league winning but good none the less, he should get more out of them. Thats what a great manager does, gets the most out of whats at his disposal.

Well Fergie started with St Mirren then on to Aberdeen, doing more than expected with both of them then on to United were he struggled for the best part of 5 years then it suddenly clicked.

Its no coincedence that the 2 teams eveyone compares us to and wants us to be like have had the same manager for atleast 10 years.

Rafa goes and then we are back to another mug wanting 3/4 years. When is it going to end? Its not. Rafa should get atleast the same amount of time as Houllier and by my reckonong thats the end of next season. If we are floundering then, then thats the time for it. Not before.

Just because some other team of ***** can do something and we dont doesnt make us suddenly ****e. Last week, while Arsenal passed it around like 5 a side, they couldnt match our work ethic. Swings and roundabouts. The sooner everyone realises that you dont have to play like Brazil 70 to win things the better.

would you come up with that name if he was a geordie who used to play for newcastle instead of a scouser who captained our rezzies?

i'm just trying to tease out how much of this is an assessment of his managerial capabilities and how much is down to the fact he's one of us.

You do need to pass and move though. Not necessarily at pace and with flair. But passing and movement is the very basics for me. Straightforward possession football.

I think the "successful teams have kept their managers for 10 years" is a bit cart before the horse personally.

Their managers are not successful because they've been there 10 years. They've been there ten years because they're successful.

fair enough, but for every manager who eventually gets it right there's a load more who never ever will. My patience with Rafa is less because of GH. After a few seasons and a fair amount of money (I said fair not shedloads) the quality of football and the mentality hasn't improved. GH's team would give this one a run for its money and thats certainly not saying much. can you imagine watching that borefest?

I can see your side of the argument and you may be proved right and in turn I might be. Thats life.

                        Nope.

What was Fergies success for the first 6 years of his reign? Wenger won the double then built a new team which hit form as United started to rebuild. They are still there because they have been left to get on with it and not hounded out after a few dodgy draws.

Liverpool can pass and at times today did a lot of one touch passing. Sadly the ball then went to Sissoko who is still playing ****e and they'd get to back.

We can zipp the ball about gracefully, we have seen them do it. Why they dont do it more often is behond me but it is there and Im a firm believer that at some point it will click into place.

He doesn't speak a word of English. At least Lippi does. Besides, if you are unhappy with the football of Rafa, you will be pished with Capello's brand. Real won the title playing boring football and the 'resurgence' of both Ruud and Beckham.
