Hopefully he'll pack the game in then because he doesn't need the money and it would be sad to see a living legend ambling around in the lower leagues.

thats what i was thinking after the game....he is a shadow of the great player he was...he will still score the odd goal but he should never be relied on to score. Bellamy and Kuyt should be our starting duo.

I'd be surprised if there is a problem TBH.

Looking at the side on Saturday, Rafa played as many players as possible who had derby experience. So Fowler and Crouch started, instead of Bellamy. From Rafa's post-match comments he talks about agression and how important that is for a derby. Therefore it was logical to have Kuyt before Bellamy on the bench, and then you really have to leave Bellamy out of the squad as you can't really afford to have two strikers on the bench. Looking at the subs, Pennant, who has more experience of the PL and English derby games was selected before Gonzalez, for example, even though that meant playing Garcia, a second striker really, on the left wing, with only a recently fit Riise as back up.

So, if Rafa saw merseyside derby experience and aggression as very important, it was logical that Bellamy was left out - whether you agree with it or not. But I'm sure he'll be back for Tuesday.

I agree with what's already been said.

If there were words then I expect nothing more from Bellamy, as he's a winner and wants to play all the time (especially a derby game as he's been a fan all his life!). I agree that he'll start tomorrow night, alongside Kuyt, as these two will be ideal to cope with the CL game in Holland.

Saying that though, as it's Bellamy that's involved it wouldn't surprise me if people are trying to make more of the incident that what it actually is!

".....and in sport, Bellamy in line for a recall for tomorrows game against PSV and David Moy..."(radio off). This was the headline at half 7 this morning.

Exactly - an actual story would save them having to fabricate something.

Anyway - all this moaning about which striker should play - it wouldn't have mattered on Saturday - we could be still playing and wouldn't have scored yet - we were stuck in 3rd gear, never really got going and from the moment the bluenoses scored the first it was always going to be one of those days...

It was a crap Saturday, but we'll improve and hopefully Alonso will soon awaken from the stupor that has affected him so far this season...

I did actually read in a paper that bellamy had had a row at melwood on thursday and stormed off. Cant remember which paper it was. To be honest, it probably is true, rafa has more than likely told him he wasnt playing in the derby as hes likely to be sent off, so bellamy has gone into one. Id be pissed off if I got told if i was out of the derby too. If its true, which i think it is, I dont see a problem at all. People are only talking about it because its bellamy. any other player (bar pennant) and it would have stayed behind closed doors.

To be honest, I don't know what has gone on, but I'd be surprised if Bellamy wasn't annoyed. However, hopefully he's clever enough to see the bigger picture of what Rafa is trying to do - I'd have taken it as a sign from Rafa that he's playing against Eindhoven and probably Chelsea too.

Is chuffin' right! I have never seen Xabi play with such a lack lustre approach. As was pointed out on Saturday, he doesn't tackle, his passing was off....and he's got a fat arse.

And as for the comments that Aurelio should be given more time in LB....why ffs? If he can't do the job, put him on the left wing and put a LB at LB.

Which LB is that then? The Warnock LB thats been injured, or the Riise LB thats injured... or do you want Traore back?
