    Pako to Valencia

Rafa Benitez’s right hand man Pako Ayestaran is on the verge of a return to Valencia as assistant boss to Ronald Koeman.

Liverpool recently released a statement confirming Ayestaran’s departure from the club, breaking a lengthy successful partnership with Benitez.

The duo lifted the Liga title, The Uefa Cup and The Champions League during their years at Valencia and Liverpool, while promotion with Tenerife also marks Ayestaran’s curriculum vitae.

Valencia confirmed they are working to bring the highly popular coach back to El Mestalla, and the Che are currently talking with Liverpool.

Valencia Sporting director Miguel Angel Ruiz confirmed talks with Ayestaran were in progress, while a club spokesman said: "We are ready to negotiate a compensation package with Liverpool."

Valencia fans recently chanted ‘Bring back Benitez’ at one of their home league matches, and the acquisition of Ayestaran is sure to smooth the settling-in period for new boss Koeman.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

    That's old isn' it?
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

I'm sure Liverpool would be open to such a deal if it meant he would definetely go abroad as opposed to turning up at the Scum or Chavs

Getting a few bob compensation would do no more than cover the pay off for the rest of his year's salary no doubt but mightn't be the worst resolution to an unsatisfactory situation all in all

surprised they went for Koeman, he never really impressed me at PSV/Benfica.
As for Pako, if only he and Rafa woul sort it all out over a bevvy or 2.

I thought he did alright although I have to say I didn't follow them anywhere near close enough to really judge. I was surprised that everyone was so surprised by his appointment. I think them getting in Pako will be a good move for them and if it stops him going anywhere in this country then that is a bonus.

We could put that money towards another "promising youngster"

What is people on here's take on why Pako left...

If the reason was mostly down to Pako's "friendship" with Mourinho, do you think it was justified for Rafa to force him out on the basis of that ?
