We all know Robbie is not what he once was but he still has something to offer IMO.
Like I said earlier, Robbie will probably be 4th choice striker and he's a good option to have coming off the bench or starting and playing for an hour in less important matches. I would be delighted to be proven wrong, as I've said a few times, but unfortunately I don't think I will.

Anyway, who hi-jacked this Barmby thread and turned it into a Robbie one?

I've just heard that Barmby has just pulled into the Birch services, he's purchased a blueberry muffin and a skinny latte.

                  Dunk's exclusive just posted:

                  Update:

Something happened today, I can't say more but I can say that someone arrived somewhere at some point earlier today and were spotted by our insiders doing something. There were several other people also there but their identities are not clear. They could have been with this person and they could have been talking about something which if it happens later on I will refer you back to this post.

Signing the young, up-and-coming and sought-after by the big boys Alonso, is not remotely similar to signing Fowler, who was finished many years ago. Xabi has by no means hit form yet - but nor has Gerrard for that matter - but even on Saturday he was way ahead of Fowler, who did precisely nothing except puff and pant. We laboured in attack in precisely the same way as we did at Sheffield United. I feared the worst as soon as I saw our line-up.

We really do have to move on from the prevailing attitude that our scouse players are beyond any criticism, but let's blame the foreigners - and I speak as a scouser. Kromkamp's gone, so who gets it now? Carragher, Fowler and Gerrard were all well below par but let's overlook that and slag off Xabi - or Sami while we're about it.

I didn't compare their signings. I was highlighting the fact that a couple of poor games at the start of the season is not evidence enough to evaluate the importance of a player for the rest of the season. Both Xabi and Fowler have performed well for us in the recent past.

You're reading things that aren't there. Where have I said or implied Fowler is beyond criticism? Or slagged off Xabi or Sami? All I said is Fowler is different class to Barmby and that he'll do well for us this season. Harldy controversial, Jaysus!

Barmby proved to be an excellent signing and played a significant part towards winning the treble. Unfortunately he got clobbered by a Tranmere defender in the quarter final of the FA Cup and didn't get his fitness and form back hence his sale. With Anderson and some of the other lads coming through I doubt Rafa will be interested in bring Nick back at his age.
It's wonderful! It's marvelous! It's 3-3 in the European Cup final! Scenes like you've never seen in Europe's premier competition! - City FM 25/05/2005

Latest news is that Skinny Latte went right through our Nicky, and he's had to stop for a tinkle at the Birchwood services, set assured he is still on his way.

His Ford Cortina needed some oil too.
