I'm not sure anyone knows for sure but it appears we have to pay 17mill pounds to KiaJ to complete the deal and sign Masher on personal terms (wage/contract). They can't be more than Xabi's (80-90k/wk) but Barca, Manu and Chelsea would probably offer more than that. Interesting times.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

No not at all.Originally posted by Morten_nogamst_Pedersen View PostIs Masher a greedy ******* in your opinion, then?
What i have put forward is what may be the current situation. We pay 17mill pounds and he is ours. BUT we must agree personal terms as well. This should be a formality but if Kia wants to put Masher into the open market he could play hardball by making ridiculous wage demands.
Thats why asked if anyone here thinks we should pay him more than Stevie cos I bet Chelsea will offer that.

I've been carpeted for saying this for the last 6 monthsOriginally posted by Maestro View PostSo Kia Joorabchian was at Anfield last night then..If that's the case, surely he was there trying to sort out his clients's contract? I'm slowly beginning to get very worried about the fact that Mascherano has not yet been signed up. Word has it that Barcelona and Milan are pulling out all the stops to get their mits on him.

I dont understand how else I can explain it to be honest.Originally posted by einar View PostThis is a bit confusing. Have we agreed to pay and have just to negotiate personal terms or is this the first option you are talking about?
A fee has been set with Joorabchian. If we choose to bid, this is the price at which our offer is automatically accepted. There was some speculation that we'd not had this inserted into the contract, but we have.
Once we meet this clause we have to agree a contract. It was thought that the terms of this were in the agreement with Joorabchian, but they aren't. In other words he could still reject us, even if we met the first option fee.
Basically he was responding to speculation that we hadnt structured the agreement properly, we have got a first option, but if we meet it Mascher could still reject us.

Surely if Masher wants to sign a contract with us, Kia would be powerless from stopping him. He owns the player's registration and is his agent. Clubs normally own the players registration and cannot dictate to the players they sell what wages they will accept at their new clubs. So his only ability to control it would be to advise him, as his agent, that he should hold out for more money. If Mascher is happy here and wants to stay he can tell Kia to **** right off for putting him at WUFC and treating him like a commodity and sign a deal with us and Kia just gets his ten percent. Just like a lawyer, an agent has to do whatever their client tells them. The problem would be if Mascher didnt resent Kia bc he got masher and his family out of poverty or something, and he decides that he wants to get Kia a bigger fee. But seeing has both he and Rafa have said that he wants to stay, I doubt that that is an issue.
What Lecter said about G&T though is definitely the most worrying. I havent read anything that has indicated that we have the funds to pay 17m considering the large increase in stadium cost and has Lecter also pointed out they didnt spend anymore then Moores's typical summer. And if you believe the Echo on the Torres fee, 17m would actually be our new record fee. However, Hicks did say after Babel that they werent done and that we could expect maybe two more players. Surely that money must be somewhere?Custard's OK

I have no factual basis for this, it is just my interpretation from all this MSI ****e.
I think basically Joorabchian DOES "own" Mascherano and Mascherano does what MSI tells him to do. Same goes for Tevez. It's all very shady and murky this stuff, I think it's FIFA's duty to stamp out this 3rd party ownership ASAP.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Your dead right. IF masher wants to play for us I have no doubt he will. However if he see's us as equals to Barca, RM, Chelsea etc we could still end up in an auction IMO.Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Or a cheaper option would be to buy up all the Capital M's and all the lowercase a's c's s's h's e's r's n's o's from the club shop - its bound to set alarm bells ringing isn't itOriginally posted by Dhavlos View PostMay be we need to all rush out and buy Mascherano shirts and then they'll be convinced that we need to keep him.

LONDON (Reuters) - Javier Mascherano will quit English football if he fails to agree a permanent move to Liverpool, the Argentina midfielder said on Sunday.Originally posted by Armchairkopite View PostLets just hope Marcher is as happy with us as we are with him.
"I only want to play for Liverpool," Mascherano told newspapers. "I hope the situation will be sorted in the next month.
"If I cannot play for Liverpool I will not play for another club in England. Not even Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United."
Mascherano signed an 18-month loan deal with the Anfield club when he left Premier League rivals West Ham United in January.

No. That sounds like a threat. He's saying get it sorted this month or at least set the wheels in motion or I'm off.Originally posted by einar View PostThat sure sounds like good news.

A price has not been agreed. A price has been set. We have not said we are willing to pay that price.Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostWhy not?
Rafa said he wants him, he wants us, a price has been agreed. And we are going to move for him in the next month, not when his loan is up
