At least our improved goal difference should give us a slight advantage.

Unfortunately it is only the 3rd criteria for separating teams on the same points (assuming us and Marseille both finish on 10)

Firstly its the aggregate score between the teams in the group matches, then its away goals............ only then does goal difference come into it

which is good because it means we only have to reverse the result against Marseille to go through............. we no longer have to better it........... unless of course Marseille give Besiktas a good spanking in 3 weeks.

Dont ya just love the way Uefa complicate even the simplest things
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

"Attack Attack Atack" in the dying minutes was funny, but 8-0 only marginally improves our position.............. and Porto beating Marseille was the worst possible result for us.

We still have to win our last 2 games to go through.......... tonight was simply phase 1 of 3
There's no enthusiasm in the crowds, we may not need passion when where winning 2-0 but its quite. We destroyed PSv last year over at their place when we returned back to anfield 3-0 up the crowd for 15-20mins Rafaa Benitez Rafa Benitez La La Rafa, the crowds clapping and joining in with the signing in bursts all over the ground. The fans that night didn't have to, but they were constantly singing here and there and this PSv Quarter final was a dead game before it even started

Gone are the days of making banter and having a sing song at Anfield about destroying a team, lets 'if you're happy and you know it' clap your hands atmosphere.

Bari.............. there is a world of difference between matchday 4 and the QF 2nd leg

WE had to win tonight everyone knew that, but we get nothing for it....... we still have to win 2 more matches to qualify

The QF is entirely different.............. you can smell the final and "job done" or not you celebrate

what should we have celebrated tonight?

              phase one of 3 completed?

knowing that any slip in the next 2 games will leave us in the Uefa cup with the bitters

Yup 5-0 in both remaining matches should see us scrape through
