His treatment is my main grievance I have with Rafa. I can stomach the at times negative tactics and rotation as long as its fair. But we are a better team with Crouch in it. We'd have a lot more wins had he been selected ahead of certain other individuals.

Stevie G loves playing off of him and since he's far and away our best player it makes sense to get the best from him.

I was willing Crouch to get a second and thanks to Benni he did just that.

I can't help feel it won't be enough to get him a game on saturday though.

Special mention to the other tall one, Sami, playing his 100th euro game, thought he was immense second half getting stuck in.
Yep, Crouch was excellent, kept the defenders occupied all night and when he didnt profit himself, others did.

His confidence should be up now, and he must start on Saturday.

Who were those silly people claiming that he never does much from the start, and is only good when he comes off the bench?

    Come on fredo, own up

I agree. I think people are way too critical of Rafa for his treatment of Crouch. In the early part of the season, his form was very suspect and we saw very little of the Crouch of last season. His omission was justified, IMO.

His form has improved a great deal, and his confidence should be sky high after last night - so he fully deserves a starting place against Fulham now. His omission against Fulham would be strange, especially with Kuyt out of form, and Torres struggling for fitness.

Crouch was good last night and should start far more often, but has anyone ever thought something might have gone on behind the scenes ? People are quick to slate Rafa over the Crouch issue, but we may not know the full story.

It's definitely possible - another possibility is that he's simply been ****e in training.

Jimmy Carter was awesome in training.

              He's our biggest threat imo.

To be fair I don't think any of our players were 'great' considering the quality of the opposition. Benni would have had only one goal but for the worst keeper since Taibi at Utd.
i don't agree with that statement, i don't want to knock him for last night as he did well, but allot of other players really brought it last night...

the only thing i have against him is that he is very much hit and miss, i thought he was **** against cardiff for example, and his best effort on goal was a long range shot. if he would head all the balls like he did last night i wouldn't have a problem with him. he commes to deep for me, almost as he wants to play second striker, but he's not quick enough to play that role, same goes with being front man, he's not fast enough to run the line. he seems to be at his best when he has the ball on his feet out side the box, and frankly i think we can get better players to do that. but then again every now and then he surprises everyone and works his magic. i love the bloke, and really wish that he would make it, but i think it's bit above his level...

I also think there is weight to the argument that some of Crouch's extra curricular activities, have also played a part in his omissions. Not too sure where Hell's Kitchen was shot but he was there, on the telly, every night, plus at almost every big Premiere.

This coupled with his griping about rotation at the start of the season, meant he fell down o Rafa's Christmas card list. He was very guarded in the post match interview and would not be goaded into complaining about rotation.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Chris Bascombe reckons he was offered one but never signed it. Thats why him and Rafa fell out

that is interesting. Perhaps he demanded pay levels on a par with Carra etc. so Rafa thought he had become too big for his boots. Would make sense

That has no relevance to this thread though.
