To be fair, all the newspapers are dominated by the 8-0. What more do you want?!

Papers are full of the 8-0 but at the same time say Besiktas are p*ss poor. We made them look silly yesterday. When Arsenal won 7-0 are you telling me it was the same kind of coverage? They were all raving about what a genius Wenger was. I don't see any praise for Rafa...and Slavia Prague were ****ter than Besiktas. They gave up in the first half. At least Besiktas played until half time!

they were not able to stand up to the intensity that is our stock in trade at the moment, they were away from home and - as graeme souness pointed out on rte - turkish teams generally don't travel well. he prediced a rout in fact. they folded. we produced some great moments but their defenders totally gave up any semblance of marking or even basic defending. if that game had gone on another half an hour it could have been 12 or 15 to us. it's a bit of both both - they were utterly abysmal and we have the players and the way of playing to destroy teams with no guts or determination. at the very least, you need balls to play us and these guys did not have any away from home.

1. Finnan - though I never worry when I see Arbeloa filling in at any position in the back four

2. Agreed. Besiktas were **** seems to be the common theme, along with some grudging respect for Liverpool followed by "but they'll all be rotated come Saturday"

4. To be honest, I think that while they wanted it, it was after 3-0 that we really started to play. I wonder whether the cautiousness of the tactics at times leads us to play too conservatiely. Some of the flicks and passes once we were 3-0 up last night were phenomenal.
