I can't believe we only won 8-0 - he's useless.

Why is no-one asking the question as to how can we beat Besiktas 8-0 but be so poor on average in the league?
Ok Besiktas were ****e on the night, whereas it clicked for us. But don't discount Benitez' tactics in this. We won this game convincingly, and very enjoyably, because we HAD to. There was no question of merely attempting to avoid defeat. Whereas in most league games, well I think we approach them with a 'lets avoid defeat' attitude first.
Of course I'm delighted with the result last night, but more than anything else, it just confuses me.Really?

Just a theory; maybe Rafa isn't a great motivator?Originally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostWhy is no-one asking the question as to how can we beat Besiktas 8-0 but be so poor on average in the league?

These must win games in the CL are motivation enough, where as regular league games needs more motivating efforts from the staff?--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

Fair question really. I think one thing to consider is that Rafa might feel we can only play this kind of game for certain games or periods of games otherwise we end up struggling to play with such energy come the end of the season. When you consider that it's a less tactically demanding style which comes more naturally to some of our key players, I think it was always going to be easier to get it to click in place compared to our more patient style. Also, let's not discount the fact that every team has bad patches, maybe we're seeinn the end of one regardless of tactics? We've always been poor for the first couple of months of the season under Rafa.Originally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostWhy is no-one asking the question as to how can we beat Besiktas 8-0 but be so poor on average in the league?
