Lauri Dalla Valle has signed

According to a local newspaper Lauri Dalla Valle signed a 3,5 year contract on wednesday evening with Liverpool FC. He'll receive a signing fee between 500k-1M£, exact fee and salary are not told.

The whole family was in Liverpool this week where Lauri took part in practise kept by a Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan on wednesday.

"It's a great feeling, there's really nice people here and the facilities are great. I hope I can get quickly to Melwood where 1st team and reserves practise" Lauri said.

Lauri met Sami Hyypiä, who gave him a lot of good tips for the future, on tuesday.

"Sami had only positive things to say about Liverpool, but he also reminded me that it takes a lot of work to make it to the top, and staying there."

Height/weight: 180 cm/73 kg.
Position: attacking midfielder.
Club: Liverpool FC.

I presume from the smiley you mean he will come here looking like just what we need to add attacking flair to the Liverpool team before disappearing having never been trusted by the manager?

Even if someone has, why value their opinion? I mean, they might be brilliant judges of a young player...but then again I'd hope our scouts would be too and they obviously think he's got potential.

As for "most people" wanting to know more about him, maybe you're right but I still don't see the point getting excited about our signing a 16-year old. Of course, you may well disagree.

I guess it depends on quite how much he is rated. Fabregas/Rooney/Milner all played their first games in the PL at 16/17 so if he was of the level of talent of the first two then maybe it would be worth getting excited about.

In general though I agree with you that people do get far too excited when we bring in a good looking youngster. The chances of any of them progressing to being top players is very low. I'm glad we have a determined policy to build on our youth team but beyond that I will wait to see a player in the first team (or at least on loan at a team of known quality) before I get too interested in them individually.

That was what I meant I'm happy we have started to do so and I'm vaguely interested to see the youth/reserve teams doing well but I get the impression that we get a bit obsessive about individuals when really we know very little.

Yes, I take your point, maybe it would be but the Milner example shows how even promising performances in the Premiership don't mean he's going to be a world-beater, let alone how he's played to date in youth football and/or Finland (with all due respect to that fine country).

Another million spunked away on someone who will more than likely amount to nothing.
Why can't we sort the first team and then worry about the reserves/future? With the money spent on all the "potential stars" that apparently all the top clubs have been after, we could have bought another genuine world class proven talent. I'm quite cross.

Milner is a good player, very underrated in my opinion.

He's been unlucky in that he has moved around a lot during his short career so far.

He has the potential to be a really good winger still, obviously not as good as Fabregas or Rooney, but not many are.

Milner is a good player, very underrated in my opinion.
