I'd agree and makes the decision to let Hamann go all that more strange. Hamann and Sissoko would have been far better in the middle of the field tonight.

Still not convinced that Bellamy is that quick goalgetter we need. He looked afraid to take his man on tonight.

I don't agree with you that our strikers don't get enough chances. At the weekend for example we had plenty off efforts, we just didn't take them.
Saturday is a blur for me but I can't remember our strikers having many chances created for them. Fowler and crouch had feck all chances and Kuyt created a couple of half decent chances himself.

Bremen fans outsung them all night, and they lost 2-0. Sad.

I didn't think we were that bad tonight, and should/would have won it with that Gerrard shot at the end. Agger and Kuyt look to be the genuine articles to me, Warnock was solid, really only Pennant was particularly below par....

?? i can't think of one. we seem to lack variaton to our attacking play.

I think we need to go to 3-5-2

                      Riise/Aurelio/Gonzo left wingback
                      Finnan right wingback

Momo and Xabi in the centre with Gerrard pushing on

                      2 strikers, take your pick

Agger, Carra and Sami at the back.

very true. he's done absolutely nothing to deserve a game never mind our opening CL game.

That was a good result tonight. A point away from home in the first real champions league game with our big-time players rested is not to be sniffed at.

Dirky looks the biz too. I'd play him every game.

Most of them fell to Gerrard admittedly, and we did go too direct during that match, and with no pace up front that doesn't work for us. Those cuntmother****er rats packed the midfield and we never got it down and passed it.

I still say play Crouch as the front man, Kuyt alongside him dropping off deep with pace on the flanks; Gonzalez left, and Pennant or Gerrard on the right if Momo and Alonso are playing. With Garcia and Bellamy coming off the bench if we need a goal.

I know Rafa likes to rotate, by a bit of continuity couldn't do any harm.

I take the point about Zenden but tonight he was one of the better players out there.

just a thought. perhaps if rafa actually thinks it's possible to play our best 11 and let them settle as a team making only 1-2 changes per week we might actually start playing with a bit more fluency and variation?
