It's actually pleasing that our summer outlay was £15m net when you consider the quality we brought in. That means that the people who are in charge of negotiating deals are doing things the right way.

With the imminent sale of Carson for as much as £10m which is a massive profit for us i also have to agree that the club has sorted itself out, if they are getting good returns on players who are good but not good enough to be first team regulars then we have turned it around. Lets just hope the money made goes back into the transfer funds and not debt reduction.

Sissoko will also hopefully moved on for a similar fee.

        Hicks Wants Roma Takeover

The co-owner of Liverpool FC, Tom Hicks, is lining up a takeover of AS Roma, according to reports in Italy.

The Dallas businessman has an estimated wealth of well over $1 billion and earlier this year bought a 50 per cent share in Premiership giants Liverpool.

However Hicks is now eyeing up the Italian Serie A and is trying to convince current President Franco Sensi to sell up. Hicks already made initial enquiries a few months ago however he is now ready to step up the pressure.

The 61-year-old co-founded the investment firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst in 1989, and is also the chairman of Hicks Inc, which owns and runs the Southwest Sports Group - the company that owns MLB’s Texas Rangers, NHL’s Dallas Stars, and the Mesquite Championship Rodeo.

If Hicks was to take over Roma, it could spark the beginning of foreign ownership in Serie A. Currently all 20 presidents in the top-flight are Italian, unlike the English Premier League which is now dominated by overseas owners.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If Hicks buy Roma then he must sell his shares in LFC.

You can't own two clubs involved in the CL.

            Interesting.
Is there no way around that though? Could he possibly register it under anohter company name or one of his sons etc.

Will Hicks sell to Gillett and move on if this split is true?

Can't see that happening, Gillette's offer was dismissed originally as it was felt he didn't have enough funds to help us get to the next level - only when he returned with Hicks did it become a viable option

I think so, not exactly sure about the involvement he has with CSKA or any other clubs though.

I'm not sure that is true as ENIC have controling stakes in Slavia Prague and Rangers who are both in the CL this year (along with Spurs who they want to get in).

Romans company sibneft paid something stupid like 50million to sponsor them a few years back(cska)

this was to put something back into russian footy. he sold sibneft though a couple of years ago and the people who bought sibneft cancelled there deal with cska.

one of his 'partners' owned cska and thats how he got round it and was cleared in a uefa bungfest, sorry investigation
