Gerrard Wants Foreign Limit

Haven't been on here for a few days and can't see any thread on the subject but whats the thoughts on Gerrards backing for a limit on foreign players in each EPL team?

How will this go down with the rest of the squad and Rafa. Does anyone think that this will cause a bit of friction?

Nah I can't see it causing any friction.

Cos he's acting captain of England, he's getting wheeled out in front of the cameras every 5 minutes. He's just chatting for the sake of it.

He'll get back to Anfield soon and he'll get on with playing football - not jabbering on behind a microphone.

On the same subject it pisses me off how last week Fergie says that 'he is in favour of having more English players in each club team'. He also says that 'Liverpool and Arsenal would reject as they have a strong Spanish / French contingent'.

Fergie only has English players because he has bought them for vastly inflated prices (Rooney £30m, Ferdinand £30m, Hargreaves £20m, Carrick £18m). Not every club can afford to do this. Forger their 'Class of 92', how many players in the England team have Man U produced lately?

I'm against the idea myself but if people were serious and thought about how to implement it I think it could be done over time. For example an enforced limit of two England born players in a match day squad could be accomplished with very little disruption by increasing the number of subs by two to bring it to the same level as European games.

Way to alienate our RAFT of foreign players, Stevie.

Gerrard has become so England-centric lately…it bugs me. He does seem to take to English players, both professionally and personally, much more readily than he does foreign players.

Seriously, not pleased with his comments at all, fcking nigh on racist "If something isn't done, there will be more and more foreigners and they will take over and that is worrying." if that was said by anyone else in any other enviroment they'd be run out of town for being a bigot.

I personally aint a problem with the England team and want it to do well but this has nothing to do with that, he's stabbing his own team mates in the back!
