Reina for me. Carson must also be up there, already made more from loaning him out than we signed him for and a chance we could get 8-10 million from his sale.

Reina without any doubt at all.
The most complete keeper in the world.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

this is a hard choice.....
Pepe because of what a great keeper he is and will get even better,
Torres because of what he can do and what he WILL do in the future for the club along with Xabi and Agger.
Garcia: what he did for the club in three quick years....
but i say
.......Kuyt :whatever:
not really....Xabi for me,...Pepe was only a big ears sized trophy behind...

So hard to pick a best buy, he's got so many great purchases
Torres and Mascherano look to be the successful big money purchases
Alonso was an astute buy, worth well more than the 10mil we paid
Reina and Agger were magnificent purchases for only 6mil (ish)
Arbeloa a wonderful pound for pound purchase
Aurelio and Voronin, look to be great signings given they cost nothing
Crouch another clever buy from Rafa, worth more than we paid for him
Even someone like Carson is a great money spinner and we don't know how good Babel and Leiva might become
the only disapointments in the squad atm to me are sissoko and kuyt, but that's only given this seasons form
In short, I don't think he has a best buy, he has a lot of themThomas Hicks Senior

Do you have any basis for that statement? At all?Originally posted by enema of the state View Postdont know about ferri - he might have played a useful role as a spy or he might not.
One thing i do know is that pellegrino was awful and cost us- literally - a goal a game when he started.
i totally reject the idea that he improved the sides knowledge of the zonal marking and if we needed to rest players - we should have used the reserves not this geriatric.
the reason it makes me so angry was the stakes t that time.....if people remember, we finished 5th to the blueshyte by a "pellegrino-sized" margin. it had a fairytale ending with us winning number 5 but if wed lost the final - and missed out on the champions league as we nearly still did!, it would have set this club back YEARS.
its about priorities, and i dont think rafa would accord the domestic league (or the overall best interests of the club) such a low priority againThe Crushing Machine MKII

Pepe Reina.
We needed a class player in that position as Dudek's confidence was shot to feck.
Rafa picked Reina out of nowhere really, he wasn't a big name when he was signed and he came for a lot of money. But the way he pushes the defence out and covers for them is great.
He sometimes looks like he is ready to drop a clanger but his record is phenomenal.
Pepe

plentyOriginally posted by SpeedyG View PostDo you have any basis for that statement? At all?
firstly the observation of watching every lfc game
riise, finnan, hyppia and carragher were excellent defenders and components of an already excellent defence (with henchoz) long before the argie plank turned up. I observed no improvement afterwards
Statistics tell us we conceded less goals in the last houllier season than in the 2004/5 which backs my observation up
whenever pellegrino played, he manifestly weakened our defence - only an idiot could dispute that
in 31 years of watching lfc, pellegrino is THE ABSOLUTE MOST HARMFUL player to the teams results i have ever seen
im well aware he was a good player when he was younger. when he was at lfc he was absolute shyte.
any credit due to him for subsequent improvement in the remaining defenders is an urban myth: Do you have any basis for that statement? At all?
the fact he is an argentinian is in no way relevant to my opinion - id feel the same if he had been englishLast edited by enema of the state; 16-11-07, 12:22 AM.drunk knows best
