i am always the first to slate tomkins - this article started off like quite a good read but then it just seemed to waffle on - it's like he has to have a minimum word count in all his articles and he justs starts to talk **** - plus i thing he has been portrayed by some as some sort of superfan which obv gets peoples backs up cause everyone will have some reason or other to claim that they are the biggest fan etc - for me it's nothing personal - it's just the **** of a picture from the offical site that really ****s me off
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

oversensitivity and paranoia? about the press? on a liverpool website? come on....Originally posted by Rafa Shankly View Posttbh i dont think his mentioning his illness has anything to do with the abuse he gets,it just so happens to be another stick to beat him with, for what ever reason i have no clue.
i find it amazing though that a simple article by the guy can not be takin on face value, his credentials and previous work has to be taken into account before properly judging his current article.
just read the fcuking thing and discuss it.
its a really good read and maybe were being over sensitive and paranoid but everything in it seems to be the case.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

Yeah - who wants facts and a sense of perspective? This is footy FFS.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View Post
I knew I shouldn't have bothered.
Back on topic, I psyched myself up to read Tomkins' latest epic, but I fell asleep when *yawn* he started talking about the win percentages of LFC managers past & present.
Rafa is ****. Until we win again, then he's great. Then **** again when we draw a game. Then great again.
Then ****.

It's all about results, bottom line.
And ours have been okay so far, could've been better but we're still right in it.
Performances have not been so good - mediocre mostly for a stretch, until recently (Besitkas).
We're at the stage where some light tinkering - yes I know probably not the right word to use here - is needed. Namely dumping Kuyt and Riise from the first 11, hopefully this will happen with the return of some injured players and the continued emergance of Babel and Lucas.I hate Polanski

Definitely - it's a well known FACT that all newspapers, tv channels, pundits and commentators have a weekly meeting to decide how best to rubbish Liverpool's good name amongst those that matter most ie bored houswives, firemen (when they're not modelling for calendars), whitevanmen, builders etc and anyone else with so much spare time on their hands that they disect every article and every word to spot crpytic suggestions of anti-liverpoolness. Is it any wonder we've never won the premiership when some 2bit journo writes something that may or may not be true or fair?!Originally posted by Dessy View Post
Point well made. Some might go further to say that thre is a conspiracy at the heart of it all.....emanating from the depths of Soho Square and through right through Fleet Street!

but most of his stuff is like pulling teeth for me
drawn out and boring for no other reason than to make his 5000 word quota or so it seems to me.Parry is a clown. En Rafa que confiamos

I have to say that Paul Tomkins has consistently proved himself a very able commentator on the Liverpool game and one whose missives are read with great interest.
I cannot recall a rival that makes me want to read his posting with interest.
Purely a personal view - we all have different tastes but it would be interesting to
seek your views on who else "grabs your attention" when writing about LFC
