Rafa bought him as an option.
But for a player of Crouch's ability, or so it seems since he has joined us as he has flourished at Liverpool both at club level and as an international, it is not good enough just being an option any more with his freakish height.
IMO if he was quicker and more agressive, he would be a starter almost every game for Liverpool.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

      Sissoko's Reds fear
      By DAVID MADDOCK 16/11/2007

Momo Sissoko is heading for showdown talks over his Liverpool future.

The Mali midfielder is frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities and wants to thrash out his situation with boss Rafa Benitez. Sissoko was the subject of a £7million bid from Juventus in the summer after an excellent opening to his Anfield career.

But he has had a dreadful start to this campaign, starting only a handful of significant games and enduring a nightmare in the dismal Champions League home defeat by Marseille.

That has led to fresh worries about his position at the club - and sparking interest from Inter Milan and local rivals Everton.

The arrival of Javier Mascherano and the emergence of Brazilian Lucas Leiva has seen Sissoko slip down the pecking order and Benitez may be forced to sell him in January.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I love the way he says things with Liverpool tinted glasses, everything is pointing towards a possible move to Anfield:whatever:

He will only have 12 months left by then, that means a few millions less when we sell him.

You are only pointing out the facts that will mean he may come to use and you are not looking at the other side of a transfer, a club/manager putting a bid in for a player.

Rafa won't buy English because of the prices, so why would he pay that amount of money for a midfielder from abroad, it is not exactly a position we are in desperate need of cover for.

Aguero is a striker, not a midfielder and we need better attacking options.

Would you say the same if Messi was available for £22m? Aguero is as good as him, not a joke.

He has £22m buy-out clause. That is what he will cost so Rafa knows what he will cost if he is still interested.

His buy-out clause won't stop the big clubs making a bid for him so it's up to Aguero when he want to leave and for which club.

Rafa knows how much Quresma would cost too, but has he paid that yet?...

                                Er, NO

Just because a player supports a club it doesn't mean that they will play for them, better offers can always come along.
