    Harry Kewell...

    ...played a full 90 minutes for Australia last night at Craven Cottage against Nigeria. He was played up front alongside McDonald from Celtic and I thought he played well and looked very sharp and happy to be out there running around. DOnt know if Rafa would be happy with him playing the full 90, but he seemed to get through just fine, which is great news for the Reds.

    P.S. Aussies won 1-0 thanks to a great strike from David Carney (Sheffield United), his only shot on target from 256 attempts...

      If he does well, I'd like to see him stay on a pay as you play contract.

      He is a quality player but its just a shame we haven't seen it from him for prolonged periods.
      Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

      Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

        Can't believe that Carney scored that, i thought he was rather poor.

        How good was Nicky Carle though? Superb player.

                Carney was terrible, had chances to square the ball to incoming players umpteen times and shot instead.

                Carle was brilliant, he is wasted in Turkey...

                  Someone on the Foxsports team said that " good performances from Schwarzer and Carney ensured the victory"

                  That one save from Schwarzer was world class. Harry was good without standing out. Carle grew in confidence and hope to see more of him in the green and gold.

                    Kewell is by far still our best left winger. That says it all. We desperately need a fit HK AND a quality back-up / 1st choice LW/LMer.

                      Totally agree, a fully fit Kewell is still one of the best in Europe and makes such a defference to our play. I hope he can have a sustained injury free run in the team to show what he is still capable of.

                        It was a poor decision by their manager to have him play the full 90 imo, he was only ever meant to play 45 but cahill got injured so he decided he'd make harry play the full 90, i bet Rafa was going nuts about it

                            I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06
