    Playmaker?

    Xabi and Lucas for sure.

    Gerrard. Maybe?

Do we need more? Do we need a playmaker in the Kuyt role? Who should it be?

I think you know who that would be
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Xabi is the ultimate playmaker, Lucas is showing great signs. Stevie G doesnt cut it as a playmaker for me.

As for getting someone in, I'd have to go with someone of the Nasri mold to play behind Torres. Good player from the little bits I've seen of him and can create chances for others aswell as doing some great stuff for himself.

EDIT: Just saw RC about Benny, I completely change my mind and agree with him. Benayoun instead of Nasri

How did I forget about him
Contrary to popular belief, I have huge genitals.

Riquelme on loan would be a good signing.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

It also depends which system Rafa will use.

Yeah but he can play football.

Or should we stick with Kuyt, a hard worker who quite frankly can't?

Personally I think there's a compromise; his name is Kaka.

Rafa seems to be pretty set on 4-4-1-1. No?

Benayoun is the man, we just need to get some decent wingers in so Benayoun can take his rightful place.

Crouch is obviously off in Jan as is Carson and possibly Riise.
Replace Crouch with Benayoun and Babel.

                        Torres and Bennie
                        Kuyt and Babel

                        backup = THE CROW

We need another defender, so Kompanay, Garay or whoever.

Leaves us short out wide. On the left we have Kewell (unreliable), Leto (not ready yet) and Aurelio.
On the right we have Stevie and pennant.

So I'd go after so decent wide men, probably start with Quaresma. Don't know about the left, I'd probably wing it (no pun intended) with Kewell, Aurelio and Leto.

So OUT- Crouch Carson and Riise, potentially Momo
                        IN - Mascherano, Garray, Quaresma.

                        Sorted

Share the smoke man. Rafa would never go for that amount of change in mid-season.

What? 2 players in (plus Mascherano already here) and 3 or 4 out?

                              Not that big an upheaval.
