Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

But, I have no doubt, the team we have now, would turn over any of Evan's sides.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

Collymore seems to think so, he reckons him (first season), Fowler and Steve M in our current side would have been pretty hard to stop.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostI know, I miss them players aswell.

You would have to agree, What an attacking trio they would make now if they were in their prime. They would have the perfect platform to play from in the current team, although, they would not get the freedom now that they had back then.Originally posted by friedk View PostCollymore seems to think so, he reckons him (first season), Fowler and Steve M in our current side would have been pretty hard to stop.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

Ah yes the days of 3 at the back (Babb, Scales and Ruddock) and 2 wing backs (McAteer and Stig). Attacking yes, but defensively sound? Absolutely not!Originally posted by IanTatt View Posteven mcateer looked good bombing down the right with macca, something we lack these days.
Still it was fun for a while.
