Along with rarely making runs to the near post he has stopped his previously very instintive volleys at goal. I remember when he first came about 50% of the times a ball came to him he would chest it away from his body and have a crack. I think he was doing it too much and losing us the ball but he is never doing it now and he looks much less threatening.
I think it's a lack of confidence and some fans getting on his back during games. The lad can feel it.

If someone of your team is lagging being and needs a boost up, you give him a pat on the back and tell him to go on. I think some fans are just too rash and start abusing players who they have a preconceived idea about in the first place.

There is no perspective with some of them, who are probably not educated enough to understand that it's a sport at the end of the day and that supporting Liverpool (and it's players) through thick and thin, is the be all and end all.

I agree with what you say but the thing is that at the highest level even when you are down in confidence you have to offer a lot to the team. Kuyt will always offer endeavour but too regularly he fails to offer a threat on goal or the creation of chances for others.

At times this has been because neither the wide players nor the central midfielders have offered runs close to him which he excels at picking out but largely it has been because his passing or control have let him down. I really hope he proves my original beliefs about him correct but at the minute he needs to improve substantially.
