If you want to win then you need to spend huge money to do it. I think most people forget that Wenger could sell off some players for big money when he took over and sign some expensive players to replace them and build his squad.

Rafa had to cope with Houlliers not good enough squad and couldn't really start to build his team before this season because of that. He couldn't sell a few players for a good price because of our **** wage structure.

So far G&H hasn't backed Rafa good enough, you can't count the £10m for Kuyt into the transfers because that £10m was included in the price for the club.

Around £20m net isn't backing a team fighting for the title. £50m+ net/season, that's backing the manager IMO.

Thats why they are investing alot of money building a top class stadium.

I agree, but we probably wont have £50 million net to spend every summer until the new stadium is finished. The new stadium is a massive investment for G&H.

I deffo think there's a bit more to this, was watching the lfc news before I saw this thread and thought rafa's demeanour was a bit strange and then the statement from hicks and gilette from out of nowhere seemed odd, so come on here and see we've got quite a debate going on.

Let's see what happens in jan, sounds to me a bit like Rafa asking for money for transfers in jan, and the board seemingly not wanting to discuss matters till end of dec. We know Rafa likes to plan well in advance and maybe get the feelers out, I get the impression that they'll be seeing our league record at the moment and be thinking hey we're unbeaten we don't need to buy anyone in the window, lets see how things are come january

know i know you are having a laugh mate. 50 mill per season net, you must be out of your mind, we're not the new chelski, even the mances don't spent that much every season, even though they did it now i doubt it will be a habit for them. unless we are buying kaka, we're not going to see that sort of money, we might once or twice but that would be special for some special player...

I'm also on Rafa's side. I don't think he's acting like a child. He's standing up for something he believes in....everything he says and does is with LFC's best interests at heart, in a football sense. Tom & George have football AND business to consider.

If Rafa's not happy and feels TH & GG aren't pulling in the right direction, then I'm not happy.

We have no option but to be patient I suppose. It's not something that's just going to go away though and as I said the press will have a field day.

This could and should have been handled better by the top brass at the club. We don't need to be giving ****e papers headlines to sensationalise even further.
