    Take it from me...

I live in Dallas. I have seen it too many time with Hicks' other teams, he is the biggest blow hard! He makes proclamations all the time and ends up eating his words or reneging on them. He is seen as the worst owner in Dallas. We have Mark Cuban with Dallas Mavericks and Jerry Jones of the Cowboys, they are winners and will pay for winners, hence their success. Hick's talks about spending money, but does the bare minimum.

For instance the Texas Rangers are the in the 5th largest media market in US yet their payroll is in the bottom third in the MLB.

Trust me he is about making money not spending money. He will make a great amount with LFC especially with the new stadium. Only if the stadium produces ridiculous revenue will he spend more on players.

The crap about spending a bunch in the summer is a load of bollocks as the net after selling players was no different in previous summers.

I suspect Rafa will leave and we will be looking for a new manager this summer.

I mentioned in another thread my concerns about Hicks, but i'm going to take a wait and see approach with him for the time being, I get the impression Gilette is the man to talk him round in situations like this
    Thomas Hicks Senior

Whilst Rafa is getting on my tits with his regular transfer window bitching I have serious concerns about Tom Hicks. George Gillet seems different somehow but Hicks is a big concern.

I'd be more concerned if they kept signing blank cheques.

This is the future of LFC we're talking about, he's being cautious and I have no problem with that

          Interesting perspective.

How do you see things panning out at LFC?
          Oh I don't know.

I have also read this else where, Hicks got crictically slated in the media regrading his NHL team too the Dallas Stars along the same line

Hicks will do enough to stay competitive but will never go to the extent of Manu or Chelski. He will fatten the balance sheet of LFC and then sell it imo within three years of the opening of the new pitch. Make a ton of dough.

He has made his fortune in corporate turnarounds. His first being Dr. Pepper in the 80's.

Also of important note. He has seen LFC in his first year reach the Champions League Final with an average team and great coaching. This is one of the reasons why he doesn't believe in spending alot.

Also, he is more interested in progressing in the Champions League than the league because there is more money to be gained in the Euro than at home.

A worry to say the least, I think he might have underestimated the virility of the Anfield faithful around the world, sure I am all for him making money but if he thinks we are a bunch of patsies to be milked for all its worth he will be in for a very very swift rude ****ing awakening

I knew we should have gone with DIC. Seriously. At least they would have primed us up ready for sale in 7 years, by which time a new era of domination would have been well under way....

Well Moores, who has this football club closest to his heart, decided that they weren't to be trusted.

I trust Moores to have the clubs best interests in mind

I've been following the stories the last couple of days with growing alarm. In the bad old days of Kraptalk I posted that we (ie Moores) had backed the wrong horse with these guys. I didn't see the difference between them and DIC in terms of venture capitalists, both after profit. I saw from the angle that G&T hadn't covered themselves in glory with their other franchises, but DIC needed to make this work as it was their first investment of this sort. Plus DIC don't tolerate failure and only aim for the top. Look at their investment record and DIC spend to make money if they need to.

I agree with Sukiakiman, they'll only spend if not spending will destroy, not devalue, their asset. A devalued asset doesn't always mean an unprofitable asset. If we lose Rafa over this, our next manager will be someone who can live in a straight-jacket, not a Capello etc who are used to spending on a whim.. truly depressing...
I'm in a glass cage of emotion!

He could have been wrong though couldn't he? I am far from impressed with G&T, on many diferent aspects. They court publicity and enjoy the attention it seems.

I am not impressed with the direct attack on Rafa and am completely 100% behind him on this one.

I think Gillette is genuine, but couldn't get a deal done without him. I hope Gillette gets upset and finds a way of pushing Hicks out and finding another partner. Probably wishful thinking!
