Its become pretty obvious that Rafa has overstepped the mark in what G&H thinks his responsibilities are. Now whether we or Rafa think he's overstepped the mark is irrelevant, G&H obviously think he has. On top of that, Rafa has twice publically criticised them. Again Rafa may be right in what he says but if you criticise the boss in public then you are taking a big risk.

I think Rafa is a dead manager walking and will be replaced by someone willing to toe the line. Now that may well hinder LFC but thats the way I see it at the moment.

Theres been friction for sometime between Parry & Rafa

Its generally accepted they dont get on either personally or professionally

Other than that I have no hard evidence other than a gut feeling

How do you see it going Lec, do you reckon Rafa's a gonner?

The main problem here is the lack of understanding the americans have of how a "soccer" club is ran. They still have not got to grips with the football culture in the uk. This stems from the lack of time they have spent in liverpool since the purchase of the club. They are looking to be absentee landlords and that is not good enough for lfc

              I completely disagree.

The yanks want the club to be successful; firing Rafa - a top a manager - isn't going to help that, is it?

I consider what Rafa said to be constructive criticism, they way it was delivered was perhaps a bit naughty and has given the press vultures their opportunity to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

I think if they were going to sack him they'd have done it already, but lets be honest there was never any danger of that and this has been a complete pile of ****e.

                Assuming that's true.

Do they have to like each other to work effectively?

I've worked with and for people who I've hated, doesn't stop me from doing my job, or them from doing theirs.

Surely if Rafa was so unhappy with him he'd go straight to the bosses and ask them to get rid?

I cant see him leading us out next season

I'll be tough to sack a treble winning (including 19) manager

Is that a hunch or inside info?...............either way these forums have had enough of this negativity the last few days. Lets all just get behind Rafa and the team and focus on the Porto game. The best way for Rafa to stay in the job starts with our support and winning as many games as possible this season. They won't sack a quadruple winning manager

The thing is Rafa doesnt think Parry is effective

I'd say there has been a power shift from Parry to Rafa (shortly after the Vidic deal) and now back to Parry

Rafa thinks Parry is a feck up and its well known that a few deals have fallen down by Parry's ineptitude

In the summer there was talk of Foster Gillett learning the ropes of the transfer market to be the main negotiator. For some reason that hasnt worked out and its back in the hands of Parry

I can think of a couple of reasons why Parry has gained favour with the owners and Rafa has fallen down the pecking order. Parry was their major contact and negotiator during the takeover, hes also took Foster under his wing. Meanwhile Rafa has a pop at them in the summer then doesnt get good results for a few weeks and the pressure is on

Rafa goes and asks them the transfer situation they say speak with your contact at the club (Fosters gone back to the USA so its now Parry) the rest is history

Saying T&G don't want Rafa. The original plan was to change Rafa at the end of the season.

Bascombe seems pretty certain that Rafa is a goner.

Edit! Rafa defo wont be Liverpool manager next season according to Bascombe.
That idiopt has to try and back up his story though. Not surprised in the slightest.

He writes for the Sunday Sun so what else do you expect from the ****?

                              You know what I reckon?

Rafa's had his wings clipped. After the losing CL final he could get away with saying what he said and publically challenging the owners. He's always going to have the fans behind him, that's a given, but he has to realise his place in the heirarchy of the club. He works for the club, Hicks and Gillett OWN the club. They are not going to allow Rafa to hold them to ransome every window, it's not beneficial to the long term success of the club, it's actually very damaging to have weak leadership at any part in the running of the club.

Rafa's a strong leader, the yanks know that now and they won't want to replace him with a 'yes man' because ultimately 'yes men' are detrimental to success. Hicks and GG are also strong leaders and they want to exert their authority for once.

Believe me, if they wanted Rafa sacked, he'd be sacked. Everything they've done so far smacks of men who are not going to procrastinate and piss about, their businessmen who take decisions no matter how difficult they are. They simply wanted to reign Rafa's mouth in and get him to cool his jets, which I think they have and is also the reason I think Rafa was looking a lot happier after the Newcastle game. He now realises they want him as manager but he also realises his boundaries, this is good, it's they way to progress.
I think they've assured him they are going to back him in January particularly with the Mascherano deal which is probably all he wanted to know.

I'm very calm and positive about this, just a little power struggle by rafa and the owners which is probably resolved now.

Still don't see why Rafa couldn't go directly to them and give examples of what he considers to be Parry's ineptitude.

I'm still surprized that they haven't hired their own man to run the club.
