Guthrie is flying against the Manc here - Could easily be an upset on the cards at the reebok

I was thinking exactly the same thing. You could just tell it was one of them games for Torres.

To be fair Given did well on a couple of them, but it was just one of those games for him. But yeah if that'd been Kuyt he would be getting slaughtered

Difference is, we all know Torres is world class and most of his chances were created by himself. Kuyt shouldn't be mentioned in the same breathe as Torres...they're on different planets.

I jinxed Torres today by backing him on a hat trick - I NEVER back LFC games and won't be doing it again

The difference is Kuyt would NEVER miss that many chances in a game because he doesn't get into goalscoring positions often enough. This is the problem - it's better to have a striker missing chances than one who never looks like scoring. He scored today of course, but he could hardly miss and knew nothing about it. It just hit him!

Hopefully though, he needed a goal like that to kick-start his season again.

I'm the same. I can't back the reds because it always backfires.

But I wonder what odds you'd get on Torres scoring 5 goals in a game? I'm convinced it will happen.

That's harsh but fair. I would love to see Dirk get chance after chance in a game and miss them, because I know it wouldn't be long before he'd stick one away.

However, It's been far from the case and I really don't look upon Dirk now as being an out & out striker for us. If he gets a goal it's a bonus. but it's now Torres I look to for our goals. He can make and take chances and run defences ragged.

Plus we all know that Torres doesn't seem the sort of player who is suddenley going to go on a dry spell of scoring do we? He looks like he's got goals in him all day long.

think Kuyt would have taken a goal like that any day of the week, may just be the kick start to his season.

You could argue that those 2 are our engine. Making most of our moves from the back via those boys.

I really didnt think we'd be able to replace SAMI with an equal, but Agger si the man.

I reckon he needed a lucky goal and he got it, i wasnt knockin Torres or comparing Dirk to him, just reflecting on the level of criticism he receives for not scoring goals as a striker, Torres and Crouch are our strikers which is why Crouch never plays. Dirk and Voronin are the support players. Actually though Torres had one of his best games today just didnt quite get the finish right and Given is a good keeper in and outside the box!
