    Morientes.

I knew he would come good if we persevered - well worth the wait .

I just think he was never destined for the Premiership...

I bloody knew he'd score a hatful for them. Obviously he had to go but it's so frustrating - the bloke scored loads of goals throughout his career, comes to Liverpool, can't hit a ****ing barn door, leaves and starts scoring goals as though he'd never stopped.

He was sh!te for us but did we ever really create the chances a top striker needs to score goals? I'm not so sure. We lack creativity and it's a problem that has to be addressed. We need to start creating for our strikers...

We sell Morientes, and then go and bring in proper wingers. Thats life. Dont think he would have cut it in the prem anyway.

If we'd had someone who could consistently get good crosses into the box last season, I think he would have started hitting them. Oh well. Good to see he's back in business.

he needs more time on the ball, the spanish league will give him that.

                That's succintly put.

He's the type of guy that needs space and time. Some players adapt, some players don't. Morientes just couldn't cope with the pace and the non-stop nature of the Premiership...

we did replace him with a player that is suited better to the prem in kuyt though. all we need to do is start getting good crosses into the box for kuyt to get on the end of.

But not only the Premiership, Morientes was also **** in Europe where even the doubters thought he'd do the business for us. Totally irritating.

Most sensible thing Ive read for a long time!

A slightly worrying thing dawned on me tonite, especially when I seen the final score at Valencia, maybe with us its not so much the strikers we have, but more the way we play?

I feel we struggled creatively last season, and think we are again so far this season. I dont mean all the time last season, but there were significant periods were we were not scoring goals, and whilst (quite rightly to a degree) Moro and Cisse were taking the brunt of the criticism, I could not help but think we were not creating enough clear cut chances for them (through balls, one-on-ones, quality crosses etc).

I kept remembering Stevie G, Gary Mac (and even sometimes SuperDan), threading superb balls through the defence, and around the back of the defence, for Mickey and couldnt help but notice that this not seem to happen anywhere near as frequently in the last 2 seasons.

I have faith in Benitez and I know he knows what he's doing and will get it right eventually, its just seeing the way Moro's been scoring this season for Valencia did raise a very very slight concern. Obviously his improvement in form could be for many other reasons other than chances being created for him, however, I do feel this observation is worth noting.

Sorry for boring you's but I feel better now

xabi and stevie also have to start finding him and bellamy with some through balls. we need to start varying our attacks. it seems that we either play wide or narrow in games depending on the opposition. we never seem to do both in one match at the moment.
