It could also explain their apparent reluctance to strengthen the squad now. If they see the CL as the ultimate prize and the Prem simply as a means to get into it then they may be happy with just a regular top 4 finish and then a push for the CL win. In that case the squad we have probably is good enough already for a top 4 finish although maybe not for a league title win.

If that's the way it's going to be then we may be no better off than under Moores.

            Good read.

Tomkins speaks sense as per usual.

A bit too nicey nicey in places but gets the message across well.

****, I just read about the troubles at Anfield. I hope they're not true!

Just when we start to look like genuine title contenders.

I have the feeling that they - I mean both the Hicks and Gillett families - have been slack in learning the business. They have a huge investment on their hands now, and I get the feeling that their knowledge of the business aspects of European football could be much better.

I mean, if I had such a huge investment, you can be damn sure I'd be talking to other chairmen, chief executives, scouts, administrators - anyone in the know in the industry to familiarise myself with how that industry works. I reckon that Foster Gillett was supposed to be the person to learn the ropes and report back, but has been very remiss in his duties.
interesting point - i have to say, when foster gillett came on board it certainly sturck me as "Daddy has got me a job" - I may be completely wrong here as i don't know the guy but usually(sorry if i offend anyone here) whed rich kids get jobs of their daddies they are usually incompetant and if it wasn't for their father getting them the job they would never get anywhere near the role. i think u are right about what his role was - yet for someone with such an important role we don't here a lot from him do we!?!

still thats the forum to a tee these days.
I wasn't actually mocking the fact he suffers from M.E, more the fact he always finds a way of putting it in nearly every article he writes.

My other half suffers from it and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

The title of this thread is a bit misleading, he's not backing down he's upping the ante. He's basically saying "sack me if you dare, I have the fans with me". This is a very high risk strategey.
