Depends how we do this year, but a lot of people on here at the begining of the season said that if he was here next season would be dcided by where we finish. I don't think that has changed. If he wins the title or comes very close I think he will be safe as you don't sack a succesfull manager.

I totally agree with the worry I just think some comments today are going over the top and are based on other people opinion or imagination. Fredo even says Rafa wont stay if he know he will not be manager next season, that is stupid, Rafa is an honourable man and would see out the season for the players and the fans - he would not want to leave us in the lurch.

Because he thinks he can win the league, and in doing so, save his job?

I think Rafa is gone regardless of what happens. We could finish second by goal difference and lose in Moscow by an offside goal and he'd be sacked simply because we won nothing. Whereas he could win a clean sweep and then walk himself off to Madrid because his work here will be done. Id prefer option 2 because option 3, him staying regardless, really doenst appear on anyones radar.

We should all just chill and see what happens, it seems we are all talking ourselves into a frenzie due to no new info.

The joke is that you are responding to an opinion of Lec's who was in turn responding to AFII's opinion.

Good post, thank goodness I didn't have computer access on the day that we sold Gerrard to Chavski, it was hilarious reading the posts the following day after his U-turn

I'd love to believe what you are saying but everything that is coming out points to the worst.

I don't think he'll quit but I wouldn't blame him or question his honour.

I've been overly critical of the yanks as a result of this episode and I normally try to be as balanced as I can. As you say, it's just the emotions and the stupidity of it all which made me voice these concerns.

Being a proud man, I don't think Rafa will stay if he thinks he won't be in charge even if he wins the league. It's not the issue here. The issue is that Rafa is questioning their authority because he's not backed.

                See last point above.

Look at it this way guys. In your organisation if you bad mouthed your boss several times in the most public way, what would you expect the result to be?

I love Rafa but one should never start a battle one cannot win. Sorry to be pessimistic.

When will he go? Well, he will want his contract to be largely paid up, and that will happen only if he shuts up (he will soon be in breach of his contract otherwise) and does not walk. The owners on the other hand will not want to get rid of him during the season unless they have a replacement in place. And, if the owners do not want to spend during the transfer window, they will not want a new manager in place before then. All these things point to a summer parting of the ways.

Oh Rafa, what have you done?

To a degree I don't think option 3 was on the table in August as most fans even believed this was the year he had to win number 19 or come very close. I don't believe he will leave thinking job done, he is settled, likes the city and loves the fans - he will try and stay as long as he can. If he wins it or is within a point or 2 I susspect then that G&H will give him another year instead of allowing another manager to follow their 5 yr plan.

I want him to stay because he is capable of winning it all with us and I believe he is the best managr around at the moment. Another thought is that if he does go in the summer the only top manager that will be available is not who I would want to see in charge.

Thing is I cant see G&H allowing anyone a 5 year plan.

Gillett talked about being realistic and not being sure of winning the league this season. I can find his quote. There are many things these 2 ****ers have said which is complete bull****.

Which will turn us into the next Tottenham unless they are willing to give the only manager I can see being available in the summer £200m +.

I am sure Hicks was quoted as saying he wants silver though. I remember him saying it though, good point.

We're ****ed then, if that's the case!

Getting rid of Rafa will cost Hicks more money in the long run - I'm sure of it.

I still don't see this situation as being totally lost - everyone keeps quiet, then there are constructive talks, and hopefully everyone singing off the same hymn sheet. I just hope it's salvageable.
